Bessie is a one year old terrier mix who is just brimming with energy! She is wonderful in cars and on leashes, making her the perfect errand-running buddy. She also loves running around outside, but once she’s calmed down, Bessie is the ultimate snuggle buddy! Her favorite thing is getting her belly scratched and she’s sure to make you giggle with her silly personality. Bessie has been at CAA for over 50 days and we're intent on finding her a forever home. Sheldon is incredibly playful and full of puppy energy, making him the perfect companion for someone who loves fun and excitement. He adores going on walks and has the sweetest habit of pressing up against you as he strolls by your side, as if to say, “I’m so glad you’re here!” Friendly with other dogs and affectionate toward people, Sheldon is a social butterfly with a big heart. Our next spawtlight is the gorgeous Giulia! This 2 year old domestic shorthair is everything cute & cuddly. She is incredibly soft, loves to present herself asking for pets, but prefers her paws to stay on the ground - not a fan of air jail cuddles! She has shown some challenges needing to be overcome regarding litter box training, and would do well with a companion who is willing to work with her and be patient as she learns the ins and outs of a new environment. Litter box issues could be caused by many different things - stress, preference of litter box style (open, closed, etc), or the presence of other cats - but is a very fixable and short-term obstacle. Love and patience given to this gentle girl will surely be rewarded in endless loyalty and companionship!

Carina is a sweet 6 month old terrier mix who’s absolutely overflowing with love and a craving for attention. Who's ready for the sweetest Sunday ?! Meet June Bug, a 1 year old terrier mix who has been a resident of CAA since mid-September! One of our volunteers has spent a lot of time with Junie this semester through our Date-A-Dog program & this is what she shared with us about their time together:
"As a volunteer at CAA, I often found myself getting drawn towards June Bug. Something about her was just so special; she really stole my heart and it’s been the highlight of my semester getting to hang out with her. She loves going on walks and running with me in the dog park, but my favorite thing to do is take naps with her and cuddle on the couch. She is the perfect companion and has a great balance between being sweet and calm and knowing how to have fun and play with me and my friends. All of my friends adore her too; she has the biggest fan club as she is the friendliest dog ever. She gets along with everyone she meets and loves to cuddle up next to someone she just met. She loves car rides and my favorite thing to do with her is take her to Sonic and get a Dr Pepper and get her a pup-cup. She is the sweetest dog who always steals my heart and I just love her so much. She has brought me so much happiness every time I hang out with her and would bring endless joy to anyone that would be so lucky to have her in a forever home. Love you so much sweet June Bug!"

This holiday season, we’re on a mission to get all of our long time residents into a loving Home for the Holidays! From now until December 20th, you can stop by the shelter and welcome one of our 30 dogs that have been at CAA for over 50 days into your home as a foster! One of those wonderful dogs is Darla, a one year old terrier mix. This friendly and playful girl will win your heart with her sweet demeanor and gentle manners. She knows the command "sit" and is treat-motivated, taking her snacks oh so carefully. Darla also loves sniffing and exploring the great outdoors, making her the perfect buddy to occupy your time over break! CAA will provide everything you need (based on availability) & all you need to bring is your love and companionship!

The cuteness continues with our next 💟 Foster Friday 💟, Milo! Milo is a 6 month old Pit Bull Terrier mix with a heart full of sweetness and a love for adventure! This playful pup adores car rides and can’t get enough of his favorite stuffed animal toys. Milo gets along wonderfully with other dogs, is great with kids, and is used to living with cats—he prefers to simply ignore them.
Milo is leash and kennel trained, though he’s still learning about house training and commands. With a little patience and guidance, this eager-to-please boy will thrive. If you’re ready to welcome a loving, fun companion into your life, Milo is excited to join your family!

Are you needing a little caffeine boost this morning? We have just the thing - meet our 💟 Foster Friday 💟 spawtlights, Mocha & Latte!
Mocha is a 3 month old female tabby with a gentle and reserved personality. While she may take some time to warm up, her sweet nature shines through once she feels safe. Mocha is getting used to small dogs, does well with other cats, and thrives in a calm, quiet environment. She may not be suited for a busy, loud household, as she’s more comfortable in peaceful spaces without too much commotion. With patience and love, Mocha will become a loyal and affectionate companion.
Latte is Mocha's 3 month old brother with a big personality! This sweet and funny little guy is guaranteed to keep you smiling with his charming antics. Latte is great with small dogs and other cats as long as they’re okay with his playful nature. While he hasn’t been around large dogs, his adaptability and friendly demeanor make him a delightful companion. Latte is an indoor-only kitten looking for a forever home where he can share his love and laughter.

This area of our cat adoption space is a wonderful way for cats to learn how to interact with other feline friends and gives them more of an at-home feel to help them break out of their shelter shells. Our catio can hold up to 9 cats, but right now, we have 5 residents that are just as sweet as can be! Angelina (F), Coco (M), Pinto (M), Celeste (F), and Mimi (F) are all spayed/neutered, up to date on their vaccinations, and ready for loving companions to spend the holidays with! We have moved to our new location on the LSU Campus!

Come visit the animals at our 30,000 sq. ft. facility at 2550 Gourrier Ave, Baton Rouge, LA 70820. We’re open 7 days a week from 10 am to 5 pm. Our phone number is 225-408-5360.
