Sydney is one of the many welcoming faces that make up South Baton Rouge Animal Hospital. She is always leading with her heart and healing with her hands. When she is not helping provide exceptional care, she can be found creating social media posts or researching the latest regulations for hospital safety. We are so thankful for Sydney and for everything she brings to the table.

Happy Halloween SBRAH family! 🎃🖤 See below for tips on how to keep your pets safe for the upcoming holiday:

Food:
The list located on this post contains a couple examples of toxic food for your pets that are common for Halloween. Xylitol is an ingredient that is found in some sweet treats and even sugar-free gum that is extremely toxic to both cats and dogs. It is recommended to store your sweet treats in areas that cannot be accessed by your fur-babies.

Costumes:
Costumes are a fun and cute way to get your fur-baby a part of the Halloween spirit but, they can be potentially harmful. Please ensure that the costume is not too tight, contains anything that can be chewed/choked on, and that your pet's airways are not covered/blocked.

⭐ If you have any questions please give us a call at (225) 367-1636. We will be open for regular hours today (7:00 am-6:00 pm). If you have an animal emergency please call Sherwood South Animal Hospital at (225) 293-6440.

Fun Fact: Did you know that dogs sweat?

Dogs sweat in the same way as us humans do, to help cool our body temperature. Although our primary method to cooling ourselves is sweating, dogs' primary method is panting. Since dogs can't use water evaporation of the skin like us, they use it through their nose and lungs.

Sweating from the paws can also result in releasing natural pheromones through the apocrine glands. 🐾

South Baton Rouge Animal Hospital is dedicated to the community

South Baton Rouge Animal Hospital is a new full-service veterinary clinic serving pets and their families in Baton Rouge. But we are not new, only this location. Our experienced team has been in the area caring for animals for decades, and we are excited to bring this high level of care and service to South Baton Rouge. As family members, dogs and cats deserve the very best veterinary medicine has to offer.

With exceptional and compassionate care as our driving force, we utilize state-of-the-art diagnostic tools for rapid and accurate diagnoses. We go beyond the traditional primary care practice, however. Because of our relationship with Sherwood South Animal Hospital, an established primary care and 24/7 ER hospital, and Baton Rouge Veterinary Specialists, we can handle anything your pet requires. If needed, we can safely transport patients to Sherwood South for emergency and critical care and overnight hospitalization. Patients who need more advanced care can stay within our family through referral to Baton Rouge Veterinary Specialists.

We love our community and are grateful to be able to serve our neighbors. We can’t wait to meet you and your furry family members when we open in mid-September 2018.
