CAA Lost and Found Pets If you have a missing or found pet in East Baton Rouge Parish please check the shelter in person! CAA is the shelter for East Baton Rouge Parish.

We are located at 2550 Gourrier Ave and we are open 7 days a week from 10 am-5 pm. We encourage people to come look at the animals we have in person, as we are not always able to post their pictures. Our animals are also uploaded to Pawboost.com which is a great resource to utilize when looking for a missing pet!

Good morning friends 😃 Does anyone recognize this cat?
Found near Lee Dr & Highland Rd, this sweet girl came in on the 18th, and we found a microchip! However, the person on the microchip says their cat is home, safe and sound.
There was likely a mix-up when this cat's litter was chipped and sent to Petco for adoption. We're working on reaching the shelter who originally had her, but in the meantime, we wanted to post her here in case anyone was looking. Thank you!

🐾🐱Good afternoon! I've noticed a fair amount of missing cats posted recently so I wanted to share some cat specific lost pets information.
🐱🏡Most cats are recovered close to home.
Research shows that when an indoor only cat escapes, they’re generally found an average of 50 yards away (approximately a 3 house radius)
For cats with outside access, research shows they’re found an average of 350 yards from home (approximately an 18 house radius)
Tips on finding your wandering feline:
🐾🐱Make sure your cat is not hiding inside the home or around the property. Check every nook and cranny! (Behind/under appliances and furniture, attics and crawlspaces, rooftops and up trees)
🐾🐱Lure them back. Try to leave the known exit point open so they can get back in, especially at night, if it’s safe to do so. Put their bedding or clothes near the door or window.
🐾🐱Check around at night when the neighborhood is less active. Take a flashlight and look for the distinctive reflection of the cat’s eyes. Cats are very good at hiding so check all possible hiding spots. Ask your neighbors if you can search their yard for possible hiding spots. Try to search within a 5 house radius and have a carrier ready.
🐾🐱Make lost pet posters using bright colors and post at intersections nearby. Make a Lost Cat yard sign for your yard.
🐾🐱Make sure microchip information is up to date and check the shelter frequently, every 2 or 3 days if you’re able.
🐾🐱Of course, use social media! Posting to Facebook and Nextdoor groups. Making Lost pet reports on PetcoLove.org/lost and Pawboost.
🐾🐱If you see your cat, don’t chase them. Stay quiet and calm. Offer them food and approach slowly if they don’t come to you.
Don’t give up! Cats often hide invisibly in silence. More timid cats can hide for weeks before coming out.
