We have cleared the area for a new Bungalow to house fosters!! On this #GivingTuesday please consider donating to MHRR to help build a new building for our foster program (the last one was damaged beyond repair by termites). Visit our website for ways to donate monthly or send via

This month our donation challenge is not a matter of if you like pumpkin pie or not, buuuut if youβd rather see our director & founder Wendy eat pumpkin pie (like with a fork) or get a pumpkin pie to the face!
Yep, sheβs willing to put her face on the line to raise funds to build the next Bungalow! Youβll get to catch it live on Instagram (date TBA) and weβll answer any questions about the buns or MHRR you may have, or you can pick our brain about anything bunny related! Whichever Team gathers the most donations will determine the outcome!

Today a few of us did another demo day on the Bungalow. All of the main lumber (studs, rafters, porch and ramp) was cut up and hauled to the curb, picked up random trash/debris that the wind had blown around, and then we started tile work. That was HARD! It took several hard swings to break up just 1 tile, and there's a lot of them! We got half the tiles removed and cleared away before we ran out of steam. Next round in 2 weeks, then we will finish up the tiles and start cutting up the floor.
Demolition continued yesterday on the first day of fall! π
The Bungalow is pretty much down to the bare bones now! The only part left that wasn't there when it was first built is the tile floor.
We've been slowly taking it down over the last couple months due to the awful termite damage. We are still raising funds to replace it with a completely metal building. We are still turning away bunny intake requests daily. π
Demolition Day #4 - tearing down the termite-damaged Bungalow piece by piece. This round we got the rest of the wall panels and insulation, the last cabinet, and the sink out. Then we broke down all the debris into smaller pieces so the trash collection people will pick it up and hauled out to the curb. We barely got that done when the wind went crazy before the storm came!
Don't forget to donate if you can or bid in our auction to help raise funds for a new (all metal & concrete!) Bungalow!
We put in a couple more hours in the Bungalow this Sunday! We found more termite damage in a stud behind the main wall where the habitats were, that we would have never found if not for tearing it down. π Thankfully not as extensive as the other areas so far. Over half the interior walls came down (it took a lot to pry them off after removing all the screws) and 7 contractor bags of insulation went to the curb. We unfortunately had another hiccup in the debris removal process - half of a nearby pecan tree fell on the utility trailer! It was already loaded with the previous weekend's debris and is now inaccessible until the tree can be cleared. As always, we will keep chugging along with whatever manpower (and power tools) we can get and we will get there eventually! #nevergiveup #justkeepswimming
Clover would like to say hello on this #moufMonday morning
Bungalow Demolition: Day 2 is complete (and hopefully all volunteers are now back home in the a/c and showered!). π₯΅
Today we removed all habitat frames, lining, back wall mylar sheeting, plus a couple more wall panels and insulation. In 2 weeks we will have another work day to finish up removing the interior wall panels, ceiling panels, insulation, and maybe more! πͺπ°
A few of the volunteers gathered this wknd to take out all of the supplies, habitats, appliances, cabinets, etc. We also started taking down a few of the wall and ceiling panels and sure enough, more termite damage was found (as suspected). A HUGE thank you to all those who worked so hard in the heat and to those who brought us some sweet watermelon to cool off with!! We will have another work day in 2 weeks to start demolishing the rest of the interior. π π₯΅ πͺ π°
