Here is Moka at the 5th Annual Howl-O-Ween Pawty at the Home Run Dog Park on Sunday. She always attends this event dressed as a lion, and people attending expect to see the lion each year. Moka is one of the original dogs that toured for many months in 2019 raising money for the construction of the Home Run Dog Park. She considers it her favorite place to visit.
Moka, like so many other wonderful dogs who enjoy this park today put the 'Home' in the Home Run Dog Park.
Thank you to everyone in the community that have supported the dog park over the years financially. Please consider making a year end donation to the dog park at: https://bccfoundation.fcsuite.com/erp/donate/create/fund?funit_id=1083

Moka is the two time winner of the coveted 'Last Place' award affectionately dubbed the 'Pokiest of the Pokies' award for being the slowest dog in the dog park, coming in last place in the annual 'Across the Dog Park Sprint' at the Festival of the Dogs. She won this distinguished ribbon in 2020 and again in 2023, firmly asserting her dominance as the slowest dog at the Home Run Dog Park. She will seek to defend her title this Saturday at the 5th Annual Festival of the Dogs. Is there a dog in Battle Creek that can out-pokey Moka? We will see this Saturday!

The Home Run Dog Park Story

The Home Run Dog Park, which opened in August 2019, was a a community project spearheaded by the founding members of the 'Friends of Calhoun County Dog Parks'. This volunteer organization, founded in 2018, formed with the vision of creating safe spaces for dogs to play and the community to gather.

A community funded project, residents and businesses joined forces and donated to the project which obtained matching funds from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. In partnership with the City of Battle Creek and Calhoun County, the purpose was to develop a beautiful, well-maintained space open to all dogs, dog lovers and friends.

Together we made this possible!
