Proof of what I go through to bring these creations to life! 😅 Got a little too close to the iron and had to improvise a quick fix with mustard for the burn—thankfully, we found the burn ointment and a band-aid not long after! 😄 It got me thinking… What home remedies or old wives' tales have you used in a pinch? 🎆$10 MICROCHIP EVENT 🎆

TOMORROW, MONDAY JULY 1ST FROM 11-7 AT 4669 EXECUTIVE DRIVE IN PORTAGE

Fireworks, picnics and other Fourth of July traditions can be great fun for people. But all of the festivities can be frightening and even dangerous for animals. Noisy fireworks and other celebrations can startle animals and cause them to run away; holiday foods can be unhealthy; summer heat and travel can be dangerous; and potentially dangerous debris can end up lying on the ground where pets can eat or play with it.

Whether or not you're planning your own Independence Day celebration, it's important to take precautions to keep your pets safe both during and after the Fourth of July festivities.

PREPARING IN ADVANCE:

-Ensure your pets are wearing their identification tags with up-to-date information.
-Collars can fall off, so we HIGHLY recommend getting your pet microchipped and having your contact information updated on their profile online.
-Take a current photo of your pet just in case.

SAFETY DURING CELEBRATIONS:

-LEAVE YOUR PETS AT HOME.
-If your pet is notoriously anxious, take measures to protect them such as crating them or keeping them in an interior room of the house without access to open doors/windows. Think escape proof.
-If you are hosting guests make sure to communicate with them so they do not let your pets outside. Post notes on doors as a reminder.

AVOIDING NON-FIREWORK RISKS:

-Do not feed table scraps.
-Keep charcoal, glow sticks, skewers, sparklers away from pets
-Remember too much sun and heat can be dangerous.
-Never leave your pet in the car.
-Check your yard for firework debris and food scraps.

Remember, July 5th is the busiest day of the year for shelters.
We see a 30 to 60% increase in lost pets this week.
Please take our safety measures seriously in order to avoid your pet becoming part of this statistic.
