Such good progress with the young ones this summer ❤️
19y/o “Lacey” came in only 3 weeks ago!
She’s already becoming so much softer, and gaining strength through both her core, and her hindquarters, and blooming into a beautiful jogger! couldn’t be more proud of her.
So excited for this team to hit the show pen this year for the very first time!
Audrie seemed to click with Coleman from her very first lesson here, and has denied the enjoy riding any other lesson horse since. No doubt they’ll continue the growth of their bond from the show arena, Walk/Trot, this year.
Counting down the days to our first show in May!
What a pretty girl Rainbows Kiss is ❤️ Available in Battle Creek MI!
Would make a wonderful addition to your breeding program, or a great project for an advanced rider.
Everyone meet Takoda (Also known as Howie(character scared of sun in the classic movie “Benchwarmers”) or Courage (as in, the cowardly dog) 😅😂) a 6y/o Appaloosa Gelding.
Takoda made his way here, through transport VIA Platinum Rose, back in the beginning of Nov.
I was called to pick him up a week after his training date was supposed to start due to the re-occurring issue of not being able to load him in a trailer.
Turns out, upon arrival, Takoda was not halter broke. So I proceeded to work with him at his former home to gain his trust.
Within 3 hours, Takoda was beginning to give to poll pressure, walk along side me in the small round pen. Once the trailer was backed up to the round pen, in no less than 10 minutes he willingly stepped in with no further arguments or struggles. Quick learner!
Coming into January, I sat on Takoda for the first time.
Before this, I struggled with a bolting issue. He would get away from me a lot. And he’s not an argumentative horse. He’s one I struggled to find curiosity in. He let his fear get the best of him very often, and still does.
I’ve been able to get through to him through constant repetition, and not letting my patience get away from me. He’s learned it’s much easier just to stop and think, rather than bolt… because I’d only make him run more … I’ve learned to allow this horse have a few extra seconds to find his head, and listen for that “lick-and-chew” acceptance before moving forward with our lesson for the day.
And we’ve learned together that taking a few days a week to go back and review desensitizing, or trying, small, new things, not TOO far out of his comfort zone to help him build up his curiosity. This keeps him engaged so he doesn’t go off in his own little world and forget that I’m still on top of him, guiding him through his ride for the day.
His goal with his new momma, Michele, will be trail riding around the property, and eventually venturing out to local recreati
