Safety is our first priority at the zoo. We continue to take careful measures in the park to keep our guests, staff and animals safe and healthy. We ask you to do your part to PROTECT the HERD by following these guidelines during your visit:
Face masks are RECOMMENDED to be worn in the park, but will be REQUIRED in all indoor spaces per executive order 2020-160. Masks must also be worn in the restaurant until you are seated at your table, per executive order 2020-161
Practice social distance, stay 6 feet apart from others not in your group
Wash your hands often & use hand sanitizer liberally
Be patient as you wait in line
Take turns at animal exhibits
HAVE FUN!
Because safety is our first priority, here are some changes you should be aware of which will be subject to change:
There is NO goat feeding or duck feeding at this time. Additionally, NEVER feed any of the animals at the zoo, including the roaming peafowl
There is NO face painting at this time
ZooKeeper Tails, Animal Encounters and Guided Tours have been suspended
Giraffe feeding is available, but masks must be worn and sanitized hands are required. Only children under the age of two are exempt from wearing masks. Be aware that this is a Binder Park Zoo rule to keep animals safe- not a state mandate. Only guests who purchase lettuce snacks are permitted on the Twiga Overlook deck, and only three groups separated by a barrier at a time. Twiga Overlook closes each day half hour prior to the zoo closing time
The Adventure Station is closed.
Beulah’s Restaurant in the East Zoo is closed.
Kalahari Kitchen is OPEN DAILY in Wild Africa
Safari Gift Shop & Zawadi Traders are open but must limit the number of guests at a time. Drinks and snacks are available at both locations.
The Z.O. & O. Train and Binda Conservation Carousel are not in operation at this time
The Wilderness Trams are transporting guests to Wild Africa and back at no charge. Guest seating is modified for social distancing and trams are thoroughly disinfected between each run. These steps may affect wait times. Guests can opt to walk the .5 mile, 15 minute route to and from Wild Africa - a trek that is uphill there and downhill back.
Last time admissions tickets may be purchased is 30 minutes prior to the zoo closing.

Binder Park Zoo has implemented a series of safety measures based on guidelines developed by the CDC, the state of Michigan, local public health officials as well as other AZA accredited zoos for the safest operational plan possible. These protocols are regularly reviewed, and updated as needed. Signs are posted throughout the zoo reminding guests of personal responsibility and complimentary sanitizing stations for guest use are available throughout the facility. Zoo staff follow protocols including wearing face masks and depending on their position, gloves too. Protective shields have been installed in areas where transactions occur, and a rigorous schedule of cleaning and sanitizing is strictly adhered to.
Please enjoy your zoo visit but also remember to help PROTECT THE HERD while you’re here. Thank you.
