Companion Cats

Companion Cats Companion Cats is a 501(c)(3) non-profit run by volunteers that seek to find homes for unowned cats.

Once spayed our goal is to place them in an environment that best fits each cat. This method provides the most humane living situation possible. Both friendly and feral alike deserve the perfect forever home. If the cat is not very friendly but is homeless, perhaps this means being a “Barn Buddy” or being introduced into a controlled colony. If feral kittens are found, it might mean living in a vo

lunteer foster home where they can be socialized until old enough to be tested for FIV & FeLV, spayed, microchipped and vaccinated prior to adoption.

These beautiful cats are staying with a foster who found them as strays and cared enough to get them help. Now she needs to find forever homes for them. They don't have to go together as they are not bonded.
Both are fixed, vaccinated, tested negative, microchipped and flea treated. They are both friendly. Tom is playful and has a cute haircut. Luna is snuggly and a bit older (not sure exactly how old...possibly even his mother). Please text 269-209-7278 if you want more information or would like to schedule a time to meet them.

Audrey has been at the shelter for 3 and a half years. She is on the shy side and gets missed during our open house days. Very loving and playful, loved the exercise wheel until it broke. Audrey would love a home of her own with a family to love.

***PLEASE SHARE SO WE CAN FIND HER A HOME***

UPDATE: Many thanks to all who sent food...we now have enough to last us at least 3 weeks! We simply couldn't do it without the community support and we appreciate it more than you know.

We are once again in need of Purina cat chow. We are down to our last bag and Lucille (pictured) has a BIG appetite. 😻 Food can be purchased and dropped off by our front door at any time or ordered from Pet Supplies Plus Battle Creek for us to pick up.
Also the links below make it easy to order from from chewy or amazon. Thank you!

Introducing Turnip...from being abandoned in a field with her 6 kittens to now living in a cage at our building we know she deserves so much better! The foster says this about her, "She loves to snuggle, cuddle and play. Don't let this beautiful girl pass you by, she's one in a lifetime!"

Turnip is estimated to be about 2 years old and is now spayed, vaccinated, tested negative for FIV & FeLV, microchipped and ready for her forever home. Come meet her and our many other adoptable cats on Saturday 11-3 or text 269-209-7278 to make an appointment.

Good information.

Good information.

Proper management of a colony of community cats is a long term, year-round responsibility. If you cannot commit to proper care do not put food out for any cat. Once you put food out you become a “colony manager” and the cats become dependent on you.

1. If you Feed them 🐾🐾 Please Fix them - (TNR) is the humane and effective approach to reduce the overpopulation of stray and feral cats – collectively known as Community Cats.

2. Create a Feeding Station - Feed and monitor the colony on a daily basis at approximately the same time every day. The cats will look forward to the food arriving and it will make it easier to check on the health of the colony.

3. Cat Shelters - Providing shelters not only helps with temperature control of the cats, but also keeps them more contained and limits what some determine as nuisance behavior.

4. Backup Caregivers - If you go on a trip or move away arrange for a new caregiver or neighbor to handle colony duties. The cats depend on you and it is better for them to remain where they are currently living. Be proactive and consider having backup caregivers to care for the colony.

5. Injuries and Illnesses - Becoming a colony manager is a big and commendable task. The cats depend on you not only for food and shelter but also for their overall wellbeing. Unfortunately, outdoor cats are often faced with illnesses and injuries. It is best to always be prepared. Familiarize yourself with low cost vet clinics that treat community cats.

A big thank you to all the colony managers out there 🐱🐾💜🐱🐾.
