Day training dogs enjoying their holiday season β€οΈ
We have been super busy around here and not posting much!
Resident dog, Ryko achieved his FH1 title a couple weeks ago. This is a very difficult tracking title that he took on readily! The following weekend, Ryko earned his IGP3 title! This is a difficult 3 phase sport of tracking, Obedience, and protection. He made us all proud!
Resident dog Maya earned her IGP2 title the same weekend and took home the high protection trophy! π
The pet dogs, and sport raise and trains are all making great progress!
The winter reps are where the spring titles are made! Let's keep putting in the work to be better than we were yesterday! π
An emergency down from a distance is an important skill for your dog to have. It requires some maintenance work, like all behaviors, but the work is well worth it to keep your pups safe while off leash. π
Good work, Seamus! The speed in the down is really coming along nicely! π
Remember Muscovy?! He was one of our many foster dogs from this last year. Found on the streets of Stockton, CA with a couple littermates. He scored the best home that is absolutely in love with him! He is also maturing into a handsome adult! π
It might not look like much, but this is huge for the new kid, Norin! He arrived with some dog reactivity that we jumped on right away. 6 weeks later, and he has found his confidence around other dogs and is ready to prioritize his work! OG day camp dog, Seamus, was the best neutral dog to help this young male GSD. It wasn't that long ago that Seamus was the nervous reactive puppy! Great work boys!π
When we first tried walking up stairs together she would launch forward and pull the whole way, she has learned some patience and now makes sure she walks up with her person β€οΈβ€οΈ
Our friend, Buster, is finally enjoying the off leash life! An off leash heel, and reliable recall, will make his summer hiking trips a breeze for him and his person! π
Foster dog, boarding dogs, and day camp dogs all out for a hike together β€οΈ
Muscovy, the GSD/pitbull/Fila mix, is available for adoption through Woof Project Rescue.
Chopper, the German Shepherd Dog, is available through us to an active pet home with Shepherd experience.
We use treat dispenser toys and stuffed kongs to keep the dogs busy during their down time. Resident dog, Jack is enjoying his Kong wobbler in the comfort of his bed π₯°

Ranger and Violet getting some play time after obedience β€οΈ
Some nice off leash obedience under distraction from Ranger and trainer Violet. We are so proud of the progress Ranger has made. It is so rewarding to see his transformation.β€οΈ
Thorn is progressing nicely in his muzzle conditioning. The muzzle is now loosely strapped around his neck so he gets used to the idea of it staying on his body, but he is still offering to put his nose in it at this point. We have been doing short 5 minute sessions on this and ending on a good note.
Thorn started muzzle conditioning today! The important thing about this exercise is that it is not a punishment. It is his decision to put his face in the thing, and I'm just rewarding that behavior. This tool will make vet visits, and nail trims a bit less stressful in the future.
Board and train, Ranger, is going home this week! We will miss him, but he will be back for refresher training.
Here, Violet is working with him on his recall. This will be a big life changing behavior for him when he goes home because his family spends a lot of time at the beach. Now, Ranger can safely do some off leash exploring π
Dama has struggled quite a bit during her time here. She is a great example of consistency paying off in the long run. I'm so greatful that her family trusted and believed in us and our program enough to leave her here for as long as it took. The last couple weeks, she has settled in and started learning ππ I'm so proud of her! This video might not seem like much, but she tried to tell us she didn't know what a leash was when she first arrived here. Keep it up, Dama!π
This is Zeus' 4th session with the nail dremel. This is the end of the 5 minute long session where he finally worked through the stress he feels, from the sound of the dremel, and he let me touch his shoulder with it. This is to teach him that it won't "bite" him.
It's important in this lesson that the stressor (the dremel) doesn't go away until he shows a bit of improvement in tolerance towards it. Once he let me touch his shoulder a couple times, the treats were plentiful, and the dremel was shut off. End of session.π good job, buddy!

After these long days of training other people's dogs, I have to still find time to work with my own. Especially if I plan to trial in IGP ever!
Here, Ryko is working on cleaning up his understanding, in secondary obedience, of when it is appropriate to look at the helper, and when I need him to be in competition heel position. Ryko just turned 2, and still has a lot of things to clean up before we can hit the trial field for his IGP1 title.
