Whether you get your thrills from off-road adventures or from bone chilling scary stories, Harlan County is providing thrills of all kinds this week!

10/11: Make It Meet Up- Harlan Tourism is bringing a viral art trend to Harlan with Paint & Pass on Friday October 11 at 6 p.m. in the Harlan Center Gallery. During this meet up, each participant will begin a painting and then pass it to the person beside them. Paintings will continue to pass until every artist has made a contribution to every painting so that each person leaves with a collaborative piece of art. Only 20 spots are available for this FREE evening of art so call (606) 573-4156 to sign up!

10/11: Downtown Harlan Ghost Walk- Bloody Harlan Tours, LLC invites you to hear unusual stories about the usual places. Many of the places we visit every day have chilling stories of the paranormal or true crime. Your knowledgeable guides will lead you on this journey through town and across centuries. The free tour will leave from the Harlan Center Plaza at 7 p.m. The tour is limited to 50 participants. Call (606) 573-4156 to reserve your spot. Walk ups are subject to availability.

10/11: Nightmare Before Christmas- Can’t decide if you’re more excited for Halloween or Christmas? Willing Hearts Clay Art Studio says you don’t have to choose. Reserve your spot at willingheartsinc.org to paint a Halloween piece, a Christmas piece, or BOTH!

10/11-10/13: The Leaves are Lit Mini Golf- The leaves aren’t the only fall colors shining bright at Kingdom Come State Park. Thousands of lights, hundreds of scarecrows, and other fall decorations await you every weekend through Thanksgiving as you play your way through the mountainside mini golf course at Kingdom Come. Don’t miss the hot chocolate, music, and memories just waiting to be made! Play Friday & Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The cost is $3.50 per person.

10/11-10/12: Butcher Holler Spook House- A frightfully good time awaits as you travel to 313 Garrett Hollow in Cranks for this spooky season favorite! The cost is $5 per person with children under 5 free. Visit from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

10/11-10/12: Jeep Fest- With a Jeep show, guided rides, vendors, inflatables, live music, co****le tournament, and a mountain market, there’s something for everyone! Join the Muddy Harlan Jeep Crew at the Harlan Center Friday evening or Saturday for all the fun!

Beginning 10/11: Haunted Barn at English Creek Stables- Spooky season comes to English Creek Stables with their haunted barn every Friday and Saturday night from 9 p.m. to midnight beginning October 11 all the way through the end of October.

10/12: Mountain Market- This is not your average roadside sale. You’ll find crafts along with second hand treasures inside the Harlan Center from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. While you’re there, visit the Jeep Fest taking place just outside the Center! To sign up to be a vendor, call (606) 573-4156.

If there are any horses that are misplaced or need temporary housing from the hurricane, we have a few stalls open. Harlan is a bit out of the way, but there are a lot of animals that are in need.

Please share.

*We are not equipped to house stallions at the moment, so mares and geldings only*
