We have a desperate plea to share from our beloved Therapy Dog Instructors!

"Once again - Calling (ok, begging) for Children between the ages of 4 & 12! We need a minimum of 3 children to act like kids for the Therapy Dog practice test on Sunday, 1/19 (@ approximately 2:30-2:45), and the same number of children to help out for the official TDI testing on Sunday, 1/26 (@ approximately 1:30-1:45). Please let us know of anyone that can help us out! TIA!"

The Daisy Dashers Flyball Team is worthy of our deepest gratitude for their tireless efforts in ensuring the success of this event. As a direct result, we are now able to purchase our own flyball box, valued at $1,500, along with a set of jumps. This team has also demonstrated a strong commitment to supporting our local community and has pledged to support the newly established Autumn Rose Flyball Foundation. We eagerly await the opportunity to share our future objectives. This Saturday, January 11th, there will be a very special fundraising event at Kaybees' class warehouse and we'd really love to see you there.

It starts at 11am, we'll have have some fun vendors on site, as well as some very talented athletes there to show off their sport. If you have never seen Flyball before, or have seen videos and want to know more about it, now's your chance!

Proceeds from the fundraiser will go towards equipment needed to get both the Daisy Dashers Flyball team and the Autumn Rose Flyball Foundation off the ground. Through these programs, with help from the local 4H chapter and Bay County Animal Services & Adoption Center, we're hoping to get more kids involved in dog sports, and more shelter dogs socialized and exercised to aid in adoption.

Flyball, if you've never heard of it before, is one of the very few team-based dog sports. It's a high speed relay race run with teams of 4 dogs and 5 humans. Each dog performs a 51' dash over 4 hurdles, retrieves a ball from a spring loaded box, and returns to the start line so their next teammate can go. A fully trained team can complete their whole run in 20 seconds or less - that's 5 seconds per dog! It doesn't require handlers to be super athletic and builds strong bonds between human and pup. It's also a GREAT gateway sport for getting teens and kids more involved with their pets while promoting teamwork, responsibility and consistency.

If you have a kid who might not be super interested in human sports, or a dog who needs an energy outlet, you should really consider stopping by to learn more this weekend.

After 15 years of wonderful memories and adventures, our best boy Pip decided to stay behind in 2024. He left behind several unopened bags of Freshpet dog food; if any of our furry friends are currently on Freshpet, his mom would like them to go to a good home. Fcfs, food is currently frozen at Jill’s house so give us a heads up so she can bring it in.
