Meet Barbie 💙 and our newest little nugget, 7-week-old Martini 🐶🍸
One of the most important things we start right away with a new puppy is structured feeding with our other dogs — and here’s why 👇
🐾 Facts that help PREVENT resource guarding:
• Feeding side-by-side (with space) teaches puppies that other dogs = good things
• Calm, supervised meals build neutral and positive associations around food
• Puppies learn early that food doesn’t disappear when other dogs are present
• Older dogs model calm behavior, helping pups feel safe and confident
• No rushing, no pressure — just relaxed, structured routines
🚫 What we avoid:
• Free-for-all feeding
• Stealing bowls
• Letting dogs crowd each other
• Creating tension or competition
✅ What we focus on instead:
• Clear boundaries
• Consistent routines
• Calm energy
• Supervision every time
Starting these habits early can make a HUGE difference in preventing food aggression and resource guarding later on. It’s all about setting puppies up for success from day one 🐕✨
Training doesn’t start when problems show up — it starts before they ever exist 💪🐾
