Osloโs first visit to a store
Today was Osloโs first visit to a store โ we went to the local pet store to get him a sweater because itโs freezing in New York right now.
Socializing puppies from the start is super important. Especially mastiffs, who, as guard dogs, tend to be naturally skeptical or reserved towards other humans other than their immediate family. The last thing you want is a shy mastiff!
Oslo did really well, although naturally a bit timid in the beginning, itโs important to give him the time needed to adjust, because he arrived from Indiana, where he was living in a very rural area compared to the urban scenario he will be living in with us with all the noises, situations, people and noises that come with that.
Imagine a creature coming from a different planet trying to get adjusted to their new home. Thatโs kind of what itโs like for puppies. You need to teach them everything and show compassion and have patience!
Are you a new puppy parent who are wondering how to best raise your new fur baby?
Check out my new holistic puppy wellness package in the comments that covers everything you need to know to raise a healthy, happy and well balanced puppy.

Nacho
Iโve been dreading this day for months, and now itโs finally here.
Today is the 1st anniversary of my baby Nachoโs passing, Halloween of 2023.
My favorite holiday turned into a nightmare. I have been thinking of what to write about this day, and how I feel, but it all feels so impossible, so overwhelming and so incredibly heartbreaking.
As I have been trying to process my grief and focus on how beautiful life can be, his untimely and shocking death is a constant reminder of how ruthless life can be too, and how devastating it can be if you allow your heart to burst open and be blessed with meeting a being so pure, so loving and so incredibly life-changing.
As Iโve shared many times before, equally heartbreaking are peopleโs well-meaning but not always well-received sentiments that โI have my memoriesโ, that โtime heals all woundsโ and perhaps the trivialization of losing a dog, versus if I had actually lost a human child . One day I will get โoverโ it and things will go back to โnormalโ.
But things will never be back to normal, not now after 1 year, not after 10 years or if Iโm blessed to live that long, decades later. Because my boy was so special and made such an indescribable impact on my life, he keeps ripping my heart open again and again, when I am reminded that he is no longer here in the flesh.
As I write this and tears are streaming down my face, Iโm wondering if the ruthless pain will ever stop, if Iโll ever feel different.
Something happened when I met Nacho. He was an angel sent to me just as I had already experienced an indescribable loss when my puppy Miso died in front of me in a choking accident.
Nachoโs purpose on this earth was to save me from jumping off the nearest bridge not knowing what to do with myself, and it evolved into what he has shown me today: my lifeโs purpose of helping other pet parents who love their dogs (and cats) as much as I love my own animal companions.

WHY COOKING FOR YOUR DOG IS THE KINDEST GESTURE โค๏ธ๐พ
Great reasons to cook for your dog:
๐ถ Control over ingredients : You can ensure your dog's food is free from artificial preservatives, fillers, and low-quality ingredients.
๐ถ Tailored nutrition: You can customize meals to meet your dog's specific dietary needs, especially if they have health issues or allergies.
๐ถ Freshness: Home-cooked meals are fresher than commercial dog food that may sit on shelves for months.
๐ถ Bonding experience: Preparing food for your dog can strengthen your relationship and show them extra care.
๐ถ Cost-effective:: Depending on ingredients used, cooking may be cheaper than premium dog foods.
๐ถ Variety in diet: You can introduce a range of healthy ingredients to keep meals interesting for your dog.
๐ถ Peace of mind: Knowing exactly what goes into your dog's food can be reassuring, especially given past commercial pet food recalls.
These are a few reasons why I highly encourage you to get my e-book, get in the kitchen this weekend and try out a few recipes for your best friend.

National Mushroom ๐โ๐ซ Day!
Today we celebrate #NationalMushroomDay!
Mushrooms are near and dear to me for a variety of reasons, especially the way they can help support our dogs' health and wellness and keep many illnesses at bay.
But they also happen to be delicious to eat!
Pictured are some of my favorite mushrooms to cook with for both humans and canines: shiitakes, oyster mushrooms, Lion's Mane, porcini, chestnut musrhooms, Hen of the Woods, King Oyster mushrooms, morels, enoki - and many, many more!!

World Animal Day
Today on World Animal Day, weโre reminded of the profound impact our furry companions have on our lives. ๐พ
At Nacho Average Dog Health Coach, my journey began with a simple truth: animals make our world infinitely better.
They offer unconditional love, teach us patience and empathy, and bring pure joy into our homes. And when they get sick, it turns out world upside down so I decided to dedicate the rest of my life to help support other pet parents to keep their pups as healthy as possible, for as long as possible.
Itโs this deep appreciation for animals, especially dogs, that inspired me to create this holistic health coaching practice.
I believe that by nurturing the wellbeing of our canine friends - mind, body, and spirit - weโre not just improving their lives, but enriching our own.Every wagging tail, every playful bark, every gentle nuzzle reminds me why I do what I do.
Our four-legged friends deserve the very best care, and Iโm committed to providing it through natural, holistic approaches.
On this special day, I encourage you to celebrate the animals in your life. Give your pup an extra treat, spend some quality time together, or consider supporting a local animal shelter.
Remember, in caring for animals, we often find weโre caring for ourselves too. Thatโs the beautiful reciprocity of the human-animal bond.
Happy World Animal Day from Nacho Average Dog Health Coach! ๐ถ๐ ๐พ
