Come get your kitties microchipped in Lincoln this weekend! It's a pay what you can clinic, donations will go towards purchasing and microchipping more kitties!
With the chaos with the cancelled microchip registrations means we will also be checking microchip registrations in a drive through fashion for dogs and cats. Bring your pet for a drive and we will confirm the microchip is present, active and registered or we will register it for free!

On Saturday, The Purrpose, a local nonprofit, will be running a microchip clinic for cats from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the All Feline Hospital, 2300 S. 48th St.

"Can you help dogs and puppies like me and my mom so we can live long healthy happy lives?"
Volunteer or volunteer team of two needed to drive our transport tomorrow to Wichita. It's a full day of driving but you get to be a direct part of saving lives! Many of the cats and dogs come straight from the euthanasia list, and you get to help deliver them to shelters and rescues here in Nebraska that will offer them time!
Transport Leaving time from Beatrice: 8am
Transport Return time to Beatrice: 6pm

Rabies is 100% fatal in humans. Your pets can either protect you or expose you.
Rabies is found in Nebraska in skunks, raccoons and bats. Your pet does not need to leave your house to be exposed and again it is 100% fatal. With regular vaccinations it is also 100% preventable. Call your vet. Get your pets vaccinated. Does your pet need spayed or neutered? We don't want to ever have to share an update like this one.

Theodore will be joining our BHS family in just a week and a half. His life shouldn't have ended because he made one mistake. Puppies will make many mistakes and with good partners like 806 K9S, we know pups like Theodore will get the chance he deserves to make more mistakes... and with adopters and supporters like ours, we know that his puppy mistakes won't cost him his life.
His veterinary bill is $300, they will also give him vaccines, and preventative care like flea treatment and deworming to get him healthy enough to travel up to us in a couple of weeks.
It takes a village to save the lives that we do. We are thankful for partners like these that help give the hopeless some help.
See you soon Theodore. Your life is just beginning! (P.S. I hope you don't mind the cold and the snow... apparently we have a bunch more in store for us before spring)

Can we get a big shout-out to the Village of Dewitt please!??!
They (like so many small villages and towns in rural NE) are struggling with a cat overpopulation problem. Recognizing the problem and identifying that doing nothing was going to result in inhumane population management by individuals, they decided to proactively combat this problem through TVNR and we couldn't be more proud!
This week their village board agreed to fund 75 TVNR's a year for the next two years which will hopefully get their community to the 90% spayed and neutered tipping point where the cat population actually starts naturally decreasing. In just ten years they could have zero cats left in their town?!?! Ok we know that's a bit unrealistic because cats move with people so more will come in, but even so... what a world that could be with humane population management!

Details for residents of Dewitt:
This program starts right meow!
***The feeder/caretaker bringing the cat must live in the Village of Dewitt and return to cat to Dewitt post surgery. We may require proof of address such as a drivers license or mail
***The feeder/caretaker must bring the cat in a live release trap (raccoon size) to our low cost spay and neuter clinic (200 N. 7th St #2 Beatrice, NE 68310)
*** There is no cost to the feeder/caretaker unless they authorize additional care such as antibiotics, flea and tick treatment, or and health testing
***Surgery is generally Monday-Thursday, appointments can be scheduled online here: https://bit.ly/BHSTVNR If you are trapping a cat, you can wait until you have it trapped to schedule it online if needed, if you're trapping multiple contact us and we will save room for you and you can still schedule the appointment online once they're caught.

How cute do I have to be to get adopted around here? They say my new paw-rents are looking for me? Is it you?
Dash is a 3-4 month old small to medium breed dog with all the personality and the most adorable expressive eyes. He would love to meet you-and add the title of Adopted to his name! We are here today and tomorrow 12-6 pm and 12-3pm on Sunday!
