The trappers are coming! The trappers are coming! All hail the trappers that are coming!
Who in the world thought spaying and neutering over 150 cats in one day was a good idea.... Well we did. And with our amazing rescue partners, The Purrpose, Brave Animal Rescue, Working Cat Project, and Stray to Spay, this wouldn't be possible. These fine ladies and gentlemen will be chasing, feeding, tracking and hopefully outsmarting the cats and kittens of Wymore & Blue Springs this week. If you feed outside cats in those two communities, we ask that you please stop feeding tonight! No more outdoor food until Saturday please! We want to help as many outdoor kitties as we can, and a little bit of hunger can be very motivating! Once caught we will be providing safe in temperature controlled housing until our surgery day on Saturday!

AND…it’s here. The biggest single effort of TNR in Nebraska history begins today.

Traps counted, tagged and packed (almost). Covers, food, cameras, pull strings, zip ties, flashlights, gloves, remotes, walkies, binoculars, boots, bug spray, sunblock, sunhats (& my nifty new trucker hat!!) and so much more locked and loaded.

Checklists help, but you always worry you’ll forget “that one” important thing.

Being a partner with Beatrice Humane Society on this is an honor. The number of people involved in this is mind blowing.

2 solid days of trapping for the benefit of cats in Wymore and Blue Springs. What we do in the next 3 days writes a playbook for Nebraska TNR.

There will be more. A lot more. This one…right now…for me? Living my dream. Helping people help community cats.

Thank you for the shares. We were able to get a hold of Ruby's owners, and they had the time to be able to see her and ultimately make the heartbreaking decision to say goodbye. Send them some love and support as today was the hardest day any pet owner has to face. She was a very sweet and loved girl. Fly high Ruby.

Hey Wymore and Blue Springs.... Today is your last chance to sign up your cat(s) up for a FREE SPAY OR NEUTER at the Wymore Fix'em clinic this Saturday. Friendly cats? Yes! Saucy cats? Yes! Unfriendly cats? Yes! But if you don't sign up we can't help you or your cats. We will have trappers available to help catch outside kitties too!
Fill out this form, or come by the Wymore Community Center Tonight at 6:30 pm. Our trappers are coming into town and starting to trap tomorrow night and Thursday morning which means if you need help catching cats or scheduling an appointment it HAS to happen today.

Nope, there's no cat problem in Wymore or Blue Springs. Definitely not. But news flash if you have a cat that needs spayed or neutered, and you haven't come to one of the information sessions, or filled out the form at the Wymore City office, or the Wymore public library.... You will be part of the problem, not the solution!

Kittens like Aries need a forever home, but wouldn't it be a great world to live in if we had no kittens that were homeless, because all cats were spayed, and all loving pets were microchipped and able to be reunited with their families that love them?

Lola is 2 years old, less than 25 pounds, sweet, scruffy and waiting for her forever family! She likes other similar personality dogs, (aka not high energy!) and kids. She hates the scary noise of being in the shelter. Can you help her get her forever home with a share?

She would also like to remind anyone with outdoor kitties that BHS is hosting an TVNR education session at the Blue Springs Community Center on Wednesday 6/11 at 6:30 pm. Drinks, snacks, why TVNR works and how to do it! Bonus signups if you live in Wymore/Blue Springs you can get your cats signed up for FREE spays and neuters through the BHS Fix'em clinic!!

If you live in Wymore and Blue Springs we are coming to help!!!

Wednesday night we will be at the Blue Springs community center at 6:30 to talk about trapping cats and to sign up cats for the FREE Fix'em Clinic for any cats in either city with outdoor access on June 21st.

Can't make it this Wednesday?
There will be one more sign up education meeting on June 17th at 630 at the Wymore community center.
We will also be assisting with a Free Cat Microchip clinic hosted by the Purrpose on Sunday June 15th during Sam Wymore Days! We can answer any questions about the Fix'em clinic and microchip any previously altered kitties!

Can't make the in person education sessions and don't have online access? We have sign-up sheets at the Wymore City office AND the Wymore Public Library. Get signed up, there won't be a second chance like this to help the kitties in Wymore and Blue Springs.

The success of this event hinges on everyone in the community knowing about it before the event. There are flyers around town and we have more information on our Facebook event and our website, but your likes, comments and shares ensures everyone who needs to see it can see it! We dream of a day where the Wymore and Blue Springs kitties can be as healthy as these two outdoor kitties. The path to a better tomorrow for the cats starts with a spay or neuter and vaccines on the 21st!

We have a driver and a backup driver! Thank you all for your assistance in sharing this post! I can't wait to meet Andy!!

Transport Driver Needed for Saturday 6/7 our smaller transport van to Wichita and back, Driver will leave Beatrice at 8am, return time 6pm, BHS can buy you lunch and there's room for a passenger to help pass the road trip time! Drivers must be over 19 and be insurable on our insurance so no DUI's or license revocations.

One of our volunteers asked me what happens if we can't get a volunteer to do the drive? Short answer- we have never explored that opportunity. Whether we commit to an animal locally in Beatrice, Lincoln, Omaha or another community, or further away, backing out of a commitment would very likely result in these animals that were offered safety, no longer being safe- and that's not an option we can live with. Whether we are taking an animal with ringworm from a shelter that doesn't treat ringworm, or an animal from a shelter out of space, we have to follow through. We can't save them all, but we also can't offer safety and then back out. That is not what we are about. Yesterday we took 8 kennels of cats from an overflowing local rescue partner in Lincoln, Saturday our lifesaving continues with our Wichita transport. Can you help with a share? Do you know someone who can donate one day of your time to save some animal lives.
