Unleash! With BHS and Clay Foley!
Casserole weighs in on comedy night….
Clay’s comedy was AMAZING and we couldn’t be more grateful to those who came out and supported us. Casserole may not have gotten the jokes, but it’s our fault for letting him film the video… #clayfoley #comedy #dadjoke #BHS

Calcifer trying to decipher why he hasn’t been adopted yet …
Zoey Update!!!
She has made it through the worst of her medical challenges. We have stopped the liver damage, and are starting to see her body heal itself from the inside. She isn't completely in the clear however. Zoey is still clinical showing a very high glucose. Originally we hoped this was a side effect of the other problems she was having, but since it is staying despite improvement with her other medical challenges we are assuming she was diabetic all along.
The good news is diabetes is manageable. It's costly, and takes a level of monitoring and consistency as well as stress management. She will have diet restrictions and strict monitoring, but she should continue to improve from here.
The bad news is we won't be able to provide that for her here at our shelter, schedules are easy, but stress reduction and specialized diets are practically impossible in a shelter environment.
We won't give up on her, we made it through the critical days, we are getting the diabetes under control and managed, and we will find her a safe foster based rescue prepared to provide her with everything she needs until she finds just the perfect home.
Not every animal we take in will be adopted out by us. Sometimes there is a better shelter or rescue out there that we will transfer an animal to. That is the thing of beauty. Knowing that we will get each animal whatever they need even if it isn't here at our shelter. It takes a vast network of rescue partners to provide this safety net for our animals. Lifesaving is a team sport, and we are thankful for the many team members that are playing this game with us.
Every animal should get a chance and thanks to our amazing donors and supporters and our staff members who pulled around the clock shifts to care for Zoey, this chance quite literally saved her life.
Sneezy, Bashful and Dopey are ready to make their exit... Into an adopters home of course! Come meet them before they find someone else to snuggle up with this week as we see our first freezing temperatures of the year.
