I noticed some discussion on beginning carriage driving group that bring up a few questions I’d like to address. Some contributors did point out that I work very closely with people to get exactly the whip they want. I have so many options available to customize these whips - in addition to stick length and lash length I can customize the stiffness of the whip, the balance of the whip, and the size of the grip. All of these options mean that you will have a whip that is completely customized to your needs. If you are unhappy with the whip you are currently using, please text or email me or call if you’d like, to see if there is something I can do to help you acquire whip that will improve your comfort and driving experience!

This is a honey bee. The pollen on her legs is from dandelions. Her tongue is sticking out due to what killed her that was on the dandelions.
It’s spring, dandelions are the bees first food. This bee is dead from w**d killer spread on what we see as w**ds, but what nature sees as food. Please don’t spray for w**ds until you see the blackberries blooming.
In this area, w**ds, flowers and fruit trees are bees only source of food until middle of June. There are FAR more w**ds than flowers or fruit trees, so it's their only food source. No bees, no food crops for us and we all starve?!

In terms of bad horsemanship, there are few things worse than doing things that make a horse nervous and anxious, and then punishing the horse for the “bad” behavior that the rider caused.

And every day, any place that humans deal with horses, this is exactly what we see so much of.

It is easier and more satisfying to blame the horse than to blame our inability to train and ride well.

Learning how to ride and train well enough to create calm, willing partners is hard. Not too many riders can do it, but most think they can.

And that’s why the vicious circle keeps playing out, the rider does something to make the horse worry. The worried horse reacts. The rider punishes the reaction. The horse gets more worried and ramps up the reaction, which makes the already annoyed or angry rider react with MORE pressure, and yet another World War Three is under way. We watch this all the time.

Go for a walk instead, Learn to ride, maybe?

It has come to my attention that there is at least one and perhaps several customers out there who have had problems with my Whips. I want to assure every single person who acquires an MCR Whip that it has been made by my hands, and I personally inspect every whip before it leaves my shop. If your whip breaks unexpectedly and inexplicably it’s because it has been closed in a door or run over or miss-handled by someone. These whips do not spontaneously fracture. Nor do the lashes come apart on their own. I splice and stitch every single lash. I have been splicing and stitching rope for over 30 years. Please, if you have an issue with one of my whips, call me and discuss it with me before posting negative comments on Facebook. I take great pride in my work, and I am concerned that everybody be satisfied with their purchase. Having said that, I cannot be in control of what happens to a whip when it leaves my hands. If you let someone else use your whip or leave it unattended someplace or do not store it properly it can get damaged and that is not the fault of the manufacturer.

I just wanted to notify my East Coast Driving friends that I am planning to attend Spring Fling CDE Friday through Sunday and will have a selection of lightweight balanced “MCR Whips” available. I am not sure if Kutzmann Carrages will be there or not. They usually have MCR Whips on hand, but in case they do not show I just wanted to let people know I will be there. In case anybody needs something custom-made you have a couple of days to let me know. I will be leaving South Carolina midday Thursday, so if I hear immediately, I could possibly get something ready. Look forward to seeing everybody in sunny Florida – assuming it will be sunny!!
