🦷 February is Pet Dental Health Month! 🦷
Dental health is a vital part of your pet’s overall well-being. Studies show that by age three, most pets have some form of dental disease, which can lead to pain, infection, and even affect organs like the heart and kidneys.

At our AAHA-accredited facility, we offer comprehensive dental cleanings, full-mouth dental X-rays, and advanced dental treatments to ensure your pet’s oral health is properly assessed and treated. Our team follows the highest standards of care to keep your pet comfortable and safe during their procedure.

Regular dental cleanings, combined with at-home care, can help prevent common issues such as:
✔️ Plaque and tartar buildup
✔️ Gum disease (periodontal disease)
✔️ Tooth infections and abscesses
✔️ Tooth loss and oral pain

If you have questions about your pet’s dental health or would like to schedule a consultation, give us a call. A healthy mouth means a healthier, happier pet!

🚨 Adopt Lucky – The Handsome Tabby with a Shy Side! 🚨

Meet Lucky, a dashing tabby boy who’s traded in his days as a lonely street panther for a shot at the good life! 🏡✨ He’s neutered, vaccinated, grown-up, and ready to find his forever couch to hide under (at least for a little while).

Lucky is a bit of a wallflower at first, but with time, love, and maybe a few irresistible treats, he’ll warm up to you. Think of him as a cat-shaped mystery box—you never know when he’ll surprise you with head boops and slow blinks of affection! 😻

We’re not sure how he feels about other cats or dogs, but he definitely needs a patient human who understands the art of winning over shy kitties. If you’re up for the challenge (and the reward of having Lucky’s trust), he just might be your new best friend!

Did you know that 1 in 3 pets will go missing at some point in their lifetime? 😔 A microchip gives your furry friend the best chance of being reunited with you if they ever get lost.

Here’s why microchipping is so important:
✅ Permanent ID: Unlike collars or tags, a microchip can’t fall off or be removed.
✅ Quick & Easy: The procedure is safe, simple, and similar to a routine vaccination.
✅ Reunites Families: Shelters and vets can scan the chip to find your contact info and bring your pet back home.

Don’t forget to keep your contact information up to date in the microchip registry!

Have questions about microchipping or want to schedule an appointment? Give us a call today. Let’s keep your pets safe and by your side! 💕🐕🐈

🚨 PSA: Let’s Talk About Butts 🚨

Yep, we’re going there. Let’s chat about your dog’s a**l glands—those mysterious little sacs that can cause big drama! 😅

Signs Your Dog Might Be Having Issues:
🐾 Scootin’ B***y: If your pup’s dragging their rear across the floor, it’s not a new dance move—it might be a gland issue!
🐾 Excessive Licking: Are they obsessing over their back end? That’s their way of saying, “Help!”
🐾 Stinky Situation: Smelling something fishy? It’s not sushi—it’s those glands acting up.
🐾 Swelling or Discomfort: If your pup seems uncomfortable sitting or you notice redness, it’s time for a check-up.

Why It Happens:
A**l glands can get clogged, infected, or inflamed. Sometimes it’s diet-related, other times it’s just one of those “dog things.”

How We Can Help:
We can safely express those glands (yes, it’s as glamorous as it sounds 😅) and make sure your pup’s tail is wagging again in no time!

💡 Pro Tip: Keep an eye on your dog’s poop—it’s not just for cleanup duty! Firm stools help naturally empty those glands.

If your pup’s giving you the “butt SOS,” call us today! Let’s handle the stink so you don’t have to. 🐶✨

💧 Keep Your Cat Hydrated! 🐾

Did you know that proper hydration is essential for your cat's health? Cats naturally have a low thirst drive, which can sometimes lead to dehydration or urinary issues. Ensuring they drink enough water can help support kidney health and prevent urinary tract problems. 🐈

Here are some tips to encourage your cat to drink more water:

1️⃣ Add Fountains: Many cats prefer running water. A pet fountain can make drinking more appealing!
2️⃣ Place Multiple Water Bowls: Offer fresh water in several spots around your home to make it easy for them to access.
3️⃣ Try Wet Food: Adding wet food to their diet is a great way to increase their overall water intake.
4️⃣ Flavor It Up: Add a small splash of tuna juice (no salt added) or chicken broth (unsalted) to their water for a tasty treat.
5️⃣ Use Wide, Shallow Bowls: Some cats dislike deep bowls that touch their whiskers. Opt for wide, shallow dishes instead.
6️⃣ Keep It Fresh: Change water daily to keep it clean and appealing.

Your kitty’s health starts with hydration! If you have any concerns or need more tips, don’t hesitate to ask us. 💕

Our Story

Dr. Dawn Karnicki and her team are committed to bringing you and your pets better health by practicing the science of Veterinary Medicine. Beaumont based Delaware Animal Clinic was founded in 1984. Since then our staff has been performing veterinarian medicine and compassionate animal care in the Beaumont area. Delaware Animal Clinic is a full-service Animal Hospital whose mission is to provide the highest standard of quality and compassion in veterinary care for our patients and welcoming, informative, and supportive service for our clients, while maintaining a superior working environment for our employees. Delaware Animal Clinic offers the Beaumont animal community emergency veterinary services during regular business hours, in addition to standard medical, surgical, and dental veterinary care. Because we have an in-house pharmacy, lab, radiology facilities, surgical suite, iM3 veterinary dental equipment, Tonopen eye pressure measurement, Cardell blood pressure monitor, Idexx Cardiopet ECG services, and intensive care services, our facility enables you to make one stop for your pet's medical care. We are open for appointments during normal business hours, Monday through Friday. Our mission is to provide comprehensive high quality medical and surgical care to our patients and offer the best possible service to our clients. *NOTE* We understand situations arise in which you must cancel your appointment. It is therefore requested that if you must cancel your appointment, you provide more than 24 hours’ notice. This will allow another patient who is waiting for an appointment to be scheduled in that time slot. When cancellations are made with less than 24 hours’ notice, we are unable to offer that time to other patients. Clients who do not show up for their appointment or provide less than 24 hours’ notice of cancellation will be considered a NO SHOW. Clients who do this three (3) or more times in a 12 month period will be required to pre-pay the examination fee in order to book any future appointments. We understand that unavoidable circumstances may cause you to cancel within 24 hours. Fees in this instance may be waived but only with management approval. Our practice firmly believes that a good DVM/client relationship is based upon understanding and good communication. Questions about our NO SHOW policy should be directed to Judith at 409-892-2821.
