Agave Dogs Rescue was founded in 2017 after seeing constant pleas on social media from shelters and rescuers in Texas and other Southern states for help with their dog overpopulation crisis. Dogs dumped on the side of the road, dogs minutes from euthanasia unless a rescue tagged them, dogs enduring years of hardship and neglect with owners who didn't or couldn't care for them. We knew the Pacific

Northwest had an extensive demographic of amazing dog lovers willing to offer homes and their hearts to dogs in need. Our Mission:
Agave Dogs rescues adoptable, homeless dogs from areas overwhelmed with pet overpopulation and finds them loving, permanent homes in Oregon and Washington. We assist dogs at risk for euthanasia in high kill shelters and strays found on the street by out of state rescuers. ADOPTED! Puddle came to us from a crowded California shelter whose staff work really hard to get their dogs safely out of the shelter by way of adoption or transfer to rescue. We scooped Puddle up and brought him to Oregon for the best chances of finding a happy home. Puddle quickly caught the eye of these adopters who love the Border Collie breed and were eager to help a rescue puppy in need. Best wishes Puddle! 💦

ADOPTED! Turbo came to us from California after he was found by one of our rescue partners as a stray puppy in bad shape, hanging out on courthouse property. Poor Turbo was filthy and stunk so badly. They got him all cleaned up, fully vetted and then didn’t have much adoption interest for Turbo. So we brought him up to give him a better chance of finding a loving home. Turbo met this wonderful family last week and they were so kind to give him a home. Happy new life Turbo! 🥰

7 month old puppy, Sharon, enjoying her first Christmas after surviving as a skinny, stray puppy in California. She is doing so well in her foster home and eagerly awaiting a home of her own!

Sharon has been raised the past few months in foster with other dogs, cats and kids. Crate and potty trained. Shy but loving and really bonds with her people 🥰

ADOPTED! Dosha came to us from California where she was living with owners who could no longer care for her due to homelessness. Dosha was badly matted and had lots of fleas. We immediately got her in for a groom to get her comfortable and rid her of fleas. Dosha cleaned up beautifully and found a home super fast once she arrived to Oregon. She now has a doggie sister to play with and show her the ropes. Happy new life Dosha! 💖

Agave Dogs Rescue has so many deserving, adoptable dogs right now just waiting to meet kind humans looking to offer a home 🏠

Sharon is one of those sweet dogs. Sharon is shy but blossoms quickly. She was found in California, starving and with a plastic bag tied around her head (see 📸 in comments.)

A kind rescuer took Sharon in, got her to a healthy weight and socialized her with other dogs, cats and kiddos. Sharon would love a home with another friendly dog.

Potty and crate trained. Nice medium energy. A really good girl who deserves a chance.

Henri is such a soft, sweet boy who would love to sleep in bed next to you and be a cozy cuddle buddy. Henri came to us badly matted from a California shelter so he recently received a shave down but we promise his luxurious fur will grow back. We think Henri is a Poodle mix.

Good with other dogs. Likely fine with cats and we can cat test him if needed. Social pup who loves people 🥰 Doing well with his potty habits and learned the doggie door. Not barky so far after a week in foster.

Puppy boy, Puddle, waited all week to meet some wonderful adopters this weekend but they ended up canceling on him so he’s back on the market 🐼

Puddle’s foster family affectionately calls him “Cuddle Puddle” because this boy is so soft and sweet getting snuggles in their laps.

He’s getting lots of excellent socialization with other dogs, cats and kiddos! Happy, social, confident puppy who may be a Border Collie mix.

We can’t help but feel ho-hum for George these days…

Adopted just under a year ago and returned because he was getting stressed by a toddler and baby in the home (we understand kids are kids.)

Adopted a couple weeks ago then returned because apparently he needed to qualify as a service dog (no mention of that requirement in their adoption application.)

Had a great application come in this week that we were super hopeful for, then they canceled this morning without meeting him.

George needs some Christmas magic at this point… ✨✨

We know there are lots of plot twists in the adoption journey of some dogs and we are rooting so hard for this Chihuahua gentleman to land in a solid home.

He’s a really easy little dog to live with. George adores women but can be barky and avoidant with a live-in man. He’s been polite with male visitors. He would do a cartwheel to find a female adopter to love him! Great with other dogs. No cats. Potty trained. Calm, shy initially, sweet guy. Good for nail trims and baths.

Audra won us over with her sweet expressions in the shelter and she continues to do so in foster too! 🥰

Audra is such an affectionate girl and she truly dotes on her people. Audra bonds strongly with women and kids. Is friendly towards men too. Good with cats and fostered with two! She would do best with a male dog. Audra has also met a large breed female dog and a rambunctious, playful puppy and gave appropriate corrections to the puppy when he was too wild for her. She likes other polite dogs and is avoidant of pushy, active dogs.

Crate trained, potty trained, no leash reactivity noted and doesn’t pull much on leash. Medium energy with the ability to settle nicely in the home.
