Lick-Mats are Good for Your Pets🌷🐾🐾
Hey there, pet parents!
Does your dog have a lick-mat? They seem to have caught on with Pet Parents of both cats 😽 😽 and dogs 🐶 🐶! Combining a fun and engaging activity with nutritional benefits, lick-mats can be used during specific grooming tasks (Cutting nails, bathing, etc) to positively distract and calm them.
Used with a tasty spread, this also encourages repetitive licking. This will increases saliva, an important part of good oral health. Utilizing a lick-mat provides mental stimulation, and can alleviate stress and reduce boredom.
A good lick-mat is made of food grade silicone or any other non-toxic material. Most are dishwasher safe or can be hand-washed with soap and water. Always inspect the lick-mat to notice any wear or tear.
Some great spreads to try out include: Raw dog food, mashed sweet potato, veggie or fruit purees, Greek yogurt. In some cases, you might want to freeze the lick-mat to offer your pet a refreshing treat! Your dog and cat will LOVE you for this! Below are some ready-made spreads to use. Just be sure to count the calories so that you don't over-feed! 🐈🐕😍

Well, we've crossed the 3 week goal with our Retired Greyhound, Zoey. They say to give the acclimation process 3 days-3 weeks-and 3 months! And so far, she is settling in nicely. We DO have to keep "on guard" as she is a RUNNER, and despite having a fenced in yard, she managed to take off! A kindly gentleman and my husband, Rich brought her back from the golf course. Now in the market for a GPS tracker. I just contacted the Alliance of Therapy Animals (ATA) to get her registered as a Therapy Dog. She will make a GREAT one!
