The Dog House

Every time rescue is asked to take an owner surrender- we have to somehow make room on our little raft for that dog. When an owner says stuff like “I don’t have time to give them the best life” or “I have to move” or “they have too much anxiety” it really falls flat because that means if we bring them on the raft, another dog out there in the freezing water gets to die.

Every day in rescue we adjudicate life and death by gate keeping who can get on the boat.

Rescues and shelters are the tiny rescue boats.

The ship is our community at large.

The iceberg is comprised of puppy mills, careless owners, backyard breeders, and a$$hats who won’t spay/neuter.

So I am overwhelmed. The amount of people reaching out in need of shelter for their dogs this winter is far beyond what I ever dreamed. We are delivering the first one out today, but we still need to finish painting the others, we need one more gallon of the paint in the photos to complete them, if anyone would be willing to donate a gallon of paint, I am out over a thousand dollars from my own pockets in these houses, I had intended to supply more but after what the holleys pit us through, the funds weren’t there to do so. With that said we would also like to reach out to the man who build these to see if more are available, but would need donations to cover the costs for more, the houses themselves are $60 each, and then we have to get the. Painted and roofed. I don’t want monetary donations at this time, but maybe some pledges from people who would be willing to sponsor the cost of houses if we can get our hands in some more. Let us know if you can find it in your hearts to help us. But we’re off to deliver, and we will be in touch with those on our wait list, but I’m a business owner, full time employee, and a mom of two toddlers so I’m doing the best I can. Bear with me on my timing please.

Would anyone be interested in adopting these babies? My neighbors have moved and left them behind. Please don’t comment if you can’t help. I understand it upsets everyone, horrible things happen to people and unforeseen circumstances occur, let us pray for them, put it in Gods hands and work on helping the dogs.
