Yay, we have new Holland lop bunny babies! Holland Lop is a breed of a rabbit that is known for being friendly, social and easy to handle. They have sweet and gentle temperaments, which make them ideal pets for families with children. Holland Lops are considered medium to small size rabbits that only weigh from about 2 to 4 pounds and their lopped ears are one of their most adorable and distinctive features. This mama rabbit is eating her own placenta. This will be the only time when you see an herbivore eat something that came from an animal. It's quite an amazing sight and an educational opportunity for my kiddos.

One must be observant regarding if bunny stops eating, drinking, or p**ping, has cold ears, is lethargic (that is an emergency called GI Stasis), and bunny should always be supported with one hand underneath the front paws and one hand underneath the bottom and held against the body. Bunny feels safest with all four paws on the ground. As a prey animal, bunny needs a box or a hidey house to hide in, a foraging mat to dig, a bunny tunnel to play in, litter box, soft mats or rug, fresh water in a crock, pellets and Timothy hay. Limited veggies and fruit until bunny is 10-12 weeks old, and then start with 1 sprig of parsley a day for a week. If p**ps remain the same: round, hard, uniform in size, then continue. Other veggies could be kale, carrots, carrot tops, parsley, cilantro. Pet bunny gently with 1 finger on her forehead in the direction of her fur, and sit next to bunny on the floor for company and pet her.

These two just like hanging out in the middle of the room. They seem more like cats or dogs , then scared little rabbits. Oh, and there is a vacuum going around them and they don't seem to mind.

How to litter train your bunny - PNW PET RABBITS

Start by lining the floor of the rabbits cage with something non-absorbent. I have found foam exercise mats or yoga mats work well. Put a large cat litter box in the rabbits cage, in whichever corner it tends to potty in most. Putting it in the corner the bunny picks is very important!

Every time the bunny does not use the litter box, get a napkin and wipe up the p*e. Place the soiled napkin in the bunnies litter box, and sweep up any p**ps and do the same. Disinfect the area where the bunny had the accident using a 50/50 vinegar and water mixture. After a while, the rabbit will learn that the only place they can mark their scent is in the box, the rest disappears. Another thing that is crucial, is feeding hay in or above the litter box. Rabbits p**p while they eat, so it will help a ton to do this. For litter, wood stove pellets (not bbq pellets) or horse stall bedding is the best I’ve found, and it’s only around $5 for a 40lb bag. Never, ever, ever use clay, sand or clumping cat litter.
