𝙃𝙤𝙬 𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙜 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙗𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙫𝙤𝙡𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙩 𝙁𝙤𝙧𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙙 𝙎𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙙𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙛𝙖𝙫𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙗𝙚𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖 𝙫𝙤𝙡𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙚𝙧?
I started my journey with Forward Stride in February of 2024. I remember excitedly filling out my volunteer application because I couldn’t believe I had found such an opportunity so close to home. It wasn’t until I completed my first shift that I realized what a special place Forward Stride was. As someone who walked into the barn with zero horse experience, it felt like an entirely new world that I was eager to immerse myself in and learn anything that someone was willing to teach me. Which turned out to be a lot! During a time in my life that was very difficult and filled with loss, volunteering at Forward Stride became a much-needed breath of fresh air that helped me regain confidence in myself and brought a new meaning to what fulfillment could feel like. In just one short year, I have worked with so many amazing clients, taken many wonderful EAL classes, learned endless new skills, made genuine friendships, and have worked to understand and support the complex and beautiful nature of each member of our herd. Needless to say, when I take a step back, there is much to be grateful for that keeps me coming back.

This program provides a unique opportunity for young people to reconnect with horses and find confidence, independence, and healing.
