Hello and welcome to Dogs & Don`ts! My name is Alexis and I would like to take a moment to introduce myself.
I am passionate about using positive reinforcement-based dog training to improve the lives of both dogs and their owners. With years of experience working in shelter environments, I have developed an understanding of the behavioral challenges faced by many rescued dogs. My experience extends to helping recently adopted dogs transition smoothly into their new homes by employing compassionate and effective training methods. I completed the Karen Pryor Shelter Training and Enrichment program to help hone my skills in utilizing positive reinforcement techniques to build trust and confidence in shelter dogs, facilitating their rehabilitation and successful integration into loving families.
I am sure we can all agree that behavioral challenges are not limited to rescue dogs. Beyond my work in shelters, I have led both group and private lessons focused on teaching basic manners to dogs of all breeds and backgrounds. My tailored approach emphasizes building strong bonds between dogs and their owners through consistent leadership and clear communication.
My goal is to create harmonious relationships between humans and their canine companions. As I further my career as a dog trainer, I look forward to positively impact the lives of countless dogs and their families by fostering understanding, empathy, and mutual respect in every training session.
As an AKC evaluator, I can also help guide you and your dog to achieve Canine Good Citizen and Trick Dog titles. Whether you need support in training or are ready to be evaluated, I am here to help.
I am on track to take the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers knowledge assessment in the fall.
