Lots of you ask how you can support the Bedford County Animal Shelter, so we have made it easy for you to help out!

You will now see these signs posted at our gated waste collection centers with attendants. We are in need of donations of:

✅ Dog or cat food (Purina is preferred by shelter staff, if possible)
✅ Dog or cat treats
✅ Kitty litter

You can drop off your donations to the attendant station anytime during normal business hours (7 a.m. to 7 p.m.).

We have already received donations from many of you. Thank you for supporting our local pets!

As an owner of a couple anxious dogs myself, I will share this every year.

Quick PSA: During the Fourth of July holiday, and the days leading it up to it when folks start celebrating with noisy fireworks, scores of pets run away from the sights and sounds, making the day after Independence Day the busiest of the year for animal hospitals and shelters. Please do your due diligence. And if you feel as though your pet may need medication to help them relax during firework season, now is the time to speak with your veterinarian!

To think Baylee just started grooming in March!
It takes most years to accomplish what she has in such a short time. She tackled some young pups today that were still so nervous with grooming, but she did such a good job!

We got lucky when she said she was ready to groom! Because, she is growing into a PHENOMENAL part of the team!!

This majestic senior is available for adoption at the Bedford County Animal Shelter in Bedford, VA. He is about 10 years old, has lived with other dogs, and is a very special soul.
