My heart breaks for this woman and her family.

💔 Our hearts were heavy to hear of the passing of Mikayla Raines, the founder of Saveafox Corporation. While we did not know her personally, we’ve long admired her work and the passion she poured into rescuing and advocating for animals. Her loss is deeply felt and has sent shockwaves through the rescue community.

Moments like this remind us how vital it is to have a strong support system—friends, family, and fellow rescuers who understand the weight of this work. Rescue is beautiful, but it is also brutal. The emotional toll, financial strain, constant fundraising, and personal sacrifices are overwhelming enough—and yet, far too often, the deepest wounds aren’t from strangers, but from others within the rescue community itself.

Online bullying is real. And it’s not just the anonymous commenters behind a keyboard—it can come from people who should be allies in this work. That has to stop.

We may not all agree on every method or approach, but one thing most of us share is that we are doing this from a place of passion and selflessness. Rescue is hard. Loss is constant. And when we tear each other down, we only make an already difficult road even harder.

Let this be a reminder: be kind. Lift each other up. Encourage the new ones in this field. Remember what it was like when you started—how much you had to learn, how many mistakes you made. Offer grace. Offer help. And if you are struggling, please know: you are not alone.

To everyone out there working through baby season, exhausted and overextended—thank you. Thank you for staying up all night for the weak and the orphaned. Thank you for giving your time, your sleep, and your finances to help the voiceless. Your work matters. You matter. If this was easy, everyone would do it—but they don’t. You are rare. You are needed.

**And please—don’t be afraid to hit the DELETE, HIDE, or BLOCK button on Facebook and Instagram. I do it daily. You have every right to protect your peace. You’ve worked too hard to build something meaningful to let the noise of negativity slow you down.**

TNR in a long-neglected neighborhood. Large group of adult cats, a smattering of sick kittens, everybody talks but nobody helps . . . The usual.

I got a call about this poor kitty that showed up at a local business. One look at that a**l prolapse was enough to realize she needed immediate surgery. Prolapses of this type are often due to severe diarrhea, secondary to illness or parasites. This tiny creature’s life was saved today, and that matters. Shoutout to our summer intern Sophia for helping me rescue this baby.

We got a great update on our gorgeous Husky, Rayo, adopted last week. He’s already living it up with pup cups and pond walks. Thank you to his new owners for giving a home to this wonderful dog. Here’s to a long, happy life!

TNR, or Trap, Neuter and Return, is the practice of sterilizing feral cats as a humane method of controlling the breeding of unwanted felines. With low-cost options cut off, we’ve been forced to pay full price for our charitable efforts to help the local community and reduce the feral cat population. We remain committed to helping people and pets, included the most unwanted, because this is real rescue.

Magic found his new home last week. This guy has a few challenging behaviors, so we wanted to let some time elapse before sharing the good news; Magic’s new owners are experienced Great Pyranees owners, they immediately started working with a trainer, and per instructions, they are taking it slow and steady. The key to success for any pet adoption is to keep the dog’s world small for a while. Magic’s new folks are doing everything just right, and hes on his way to becoming a member of the family. Another happy tail!
We never give up on our animals here- they all deserve a real home.

Happy adoption day to our fabulous Husky, Rayo. His new mom and dad are thrilled to have him, and we’re equally stoked he’s got amazing new pet parents. He’s off to spread love and lots of dog hair, aka Husky Glitter, and he’s heading to a lifetime of adventure.
