Every once in a while, we as rescuers come across situations that make us shake our heads even more than usual. Charlie came from one of those situations. Once upon a time, there was a woman who had 11 kittens. For some reason, she thought it would be a good idea to keep those kittens in dog cages --2-3 per cage-- in her garage for the first year of their lives. They are all out, and they are all doing surprisingly well. Charlie has shown himself to have a disposition as friendly as any cat you're ever likely to meet-- sometimes a bit too friendly for the taste of the other cats in his foster home, as he sometimes wants to play when they don't and he doesn't always take no for an answer. Despite his rough start, he’s playful, clownish, and wonderfully well adjusted. Charlie loves attention, enjoys playtime, and quickly bonds with those who show him kindness. He loves human company and purrs warmly when petted. As you can see from the video, when it comes to play, he enjoys a pole-and-string toy as much as any cat. He is seen with his all-black sister Emma, with whom he gets along well. (They do not need to be adopted together, although they certainly can be. However, Charlie sometimes plays a little too rough for her, although not in a mean way.) We have not observed him with dogs or kids; we think he'd do well with dogs or kids who know how to treat cats respectfully. A home with at least one other four-legged buddy would be ideal, especially one or more who can handle his rough-and-tumble style of play. He should be adopted into an interactive home where he'll get lots of attention and won't be left unaccompanied for long hours. Charlie is an engaging little scamp with a personality that will fill any home with warmth, love, and fun. He's an easy cat who would be suitable for a first-time adopter.
Charlie has been neutered, is current on vaccinations, tested negative for FeLV and FIV, and treated for worms and fleas. His adopter will receive his full medical records. He’s being fostered in Allston. Adoptions are facilitated by video meet-and-greets, as well as in-person visits. There is a simple adoption process and an adoption fee, which helps us continue rescuing cats in need. A small discount will apply to adopting more than one cat. Cats can live up to 20 years, so please consider whether you can commit to providing a safe, loving home for life before adopting. Please email [email protected] with your phone number and a little about yourself and the home you would provide. Doing so helps us match cats with the right adopters.
