Having had a passion for horses since she was born, owning her own equestrian shop was a lifelong dream for owner Courtney Caverzasi.
As a child, she was captivated by all things equestrian. She begged her parents for pony rides and lessons. At the age of 12, that wish was granted. Eventually she began working at horse stables and learning about stable management as she did so. As a young girl, she rode at in Rockland and Bergen Counties at a variety of farms.
At the age of 14, she began working at her local mom and pop tack shop where she got her start in the business end of the equestrian world. When she left for college at Fordham in NYC, she got a job at the renowned Miller’s Harness Company’s flagship in Manhattan. Later, she came back to her hometown and went on to manage the small shop she had grown up working in. During this time, she solicited Hermés as a new wholesale vendor, and became one of their top producing accounts. Over the next 2 years, she doubled the small shop’s volume, opening up a second location at Overpeck Riding Facility. Eventually, she felt the need to spread her wings further, and went to work as a Merchandising Manager in NYC for South Asia Group/SAUSA, a large manufacturer based out of Hong Kong, specializing in cut & sewn sweaters & knits. Learning about the sampling and production process proved widely creative and exciting, but after a couple of years she felt an urge to get back to her true passion- the horse world. At that time, the Hermés Wholesale Manager recruited her to come work at the Hermes US Flagship in Manhattan as their Equestrian Specialist. That began a 12 year tenure in which she grew their equestrian business exponentially by bringing in the full technical line to stores, acting as head buyer and merchandiser, working with Paris on product development and developing a series of equestrian events across the US. She was promoted to Equestrian Manager for retail stores, where she developed training modules and operating infrastructure, as well as developing new brand ambassadorships with key riders across various disciplines. From 2010 to 2014 she acted as Senior Manager of Hermes’ US Equestrian business, overseeing all events, partnerships and retail and wholesale businesses. In June of 2014, she made the difficult decision to leave Hermés and launch her own equestrian brand, RIDE.
The boutique opened it’s doors in Bedford, New York in 2014- the year of the Horse! Her concept was to create a shopping experience unparalleled in the equestrian industry through a superior and unique assortment, exemplary client service, and a beautiful shopping environment. Fusing a retail designer showroom with a unique assortment of technical and lifestyle goods not found in other equestrian shops quickly made RIDE a one-stop shop for equestrians and non-equestrians alike. RIDE has quickly become Westchester’s equestrian lifestyle destination. Although a RIDE’s primary focus is to operate as a full tack shop with everything you might need in the stable as well as apparel for horses and riders, you can also find great lifestyle items for gifting such as soy candles, small leather goods and accessories, fashion & fine jewelry, cashmere silk shawls and even luxe items for baby & pet.
