Our sincere appreciation goes out to Good Sports for their generous memorial donation to White River Humane Society in honor of longtime supporter Dan Beaver.

This meaningful contribution helps us continue our mission to care for lost, homeless, and abandoned animals in our community. We are deeply touched by this thoughtful gesture to honor Dan’s memory in such a compassionate way.

Dan was a cherished friend of WRHS, and we will dearly miss his heartfelt Christmas letters written from the perspective of his beloved dog, Chipper. His love for animals and his warm spirit left a lasting mark on all of us.

Thank you again to Good Sports, and to all who support our work. Your kindness helps give countless animals the second chances they so deserve.

HELP! I'M LOST! Found at Rainmaker St & Tunnelton Rd, male, not neutered, not chipped. Thanks to Lawrence County, Indiana Sheriff's Office, he is now safe at our shelter.

If you know the owner, please notify them directly. It is difficult for us to monitor comments in a timely manner, so please contact shelter management by calling 812-279-2457 or email [email protected]

This dog will be held for 5 days on stray hold and if no owner comes forward to properly reclaim, he will be eligible for adoption.

Let me tell you about a boy I love 💙. Meet BOWIE! He is a true gem 💎. He gets along with other dogs (when properly introduced) and has come a LONG way since when he first arrived to our shelter over one year ago. My favorite part about him is THOSE EARS 😍. He pops his little head up and there is no hiding his ginormous bunny ears.

When he first arrived to our shelter, he had reportedly been fending for himself for several months scavenging and spending days and nights alone in an abandoned property. He was captured by animal control and brought to WRHS. In the beginning, he was terrified. He would tremble and shake in his kennel and hide behind the igloo dog shelter. He didn't know how to walk on a leash and was leery of people. He later grew to love and trust the team at WRHS.

He is such a confident boy now, that he helps other dogs that are new to the shelter and scared, by being a kennel mate for them to have companionship, because Bowie is a dog's kinda dog. He has THE SOFTEST fur and an incredible vertical jump (🤔 which is also why he hasn't had a lot of interest in the adoption application department). Outside of the dog kennel, he is a sweet a calm guy. INSIDE of the kennel, when walking through the shelter... he's the one that could be an excellent applicant for "Cirque du Soleil" acrobat dog 🤦‍♀️.

We believe him to be about 2.5 years old. He is neutered and ready to live a life beyond the shelter. Bowie is so deserving of a person or family to love him and to have a comfy & cozy place to lay his head down each night. MISSING DOGS!

UPDATE - One returned home (black & white one) bur the cream/tan dog is STILL MISSING)

These are my dogs that went missing last night. The black and white dog is Haley and the cream/tan colored dog is Duff. They went missing near the high school in Mitchell. Unfortunately neither of them have collars on. The great dane is not missing. My number is 812-583-6970.

KITTY UPDATE! "Hey there! I just wanted to reach out and thank you again for a great experience adopting Ziva. She has settled in right at home. We changed her name to Greta (which she is responds to). Her and her mom are best friends. She loves to play at night and cuddle hard during the day. I just love her so much! Thanks again."

Today, we received a donation to our shelter in memory of Mark Henderson. This thoughtful gesture made by Paralee Daggy will help us continue providing care and support to the animals who need it most. Mark's legacy will live on through the lives impacted and ultimately saved by this donation to WRHS. Thank you for honoring his memory in such a meaningful way.

🙀 Did you know there is no approved heartworm treatment for cats? PREVENTION is key. All it takes for pets to be infected is ONE mosquito bite. Talk to your veterinarian about the best options for heartworm prevention.

Heartworm disease in cats is a serious matter. Prevention = protection.

Naomi is a stunning 2-year-old Husky mix with the most mesmerizing eyes! She absolutely adores people and lives for belly rubs. While we’re not sure how she does with other dogs yet, we do know she’s full of love and ready for a forever home.
