One of my biggest clients for Horse Training is a Registered Quarter Horse and Paint Horse Breeder here in Bedford PA. She has some babies that are ready for new pastures🐴🌱 I do all the foundation work gentling, handling, and breaking her babies. I have been apart of her farm for 4 years now. It also helps them develop their posting skills. I don’t question whether or not you are capable and can or cannot still do your job even though you’re pregnant, so why do you have to question mine? 🤰🏻Not only do I get questions about the heavy lifting and farm work, but clients also think that just because I am pregnant I can’t work or train their horse. They seem to think that since I am not able to ride client horses that means I am not capable of still working with their horse and having effective results. ❓Did you know training and everything done in the saddle STARTS ON THE GROUND and that groundwork is mandatory for a horse with a GOOD FOUNDATION. Whether it be gentling, breaking or a tune up, we always start on the ground. It’s just as efficient if not MORE efficient to do it that way. If I need a rider (and I am pregnant and unable to ride the clients horse) I will bring in my assiant or include the client who will be riding their horse after their horse leaves my farm. I always include the client during their #boardandtrain because it’s more important that THEY know what they are doing and they know how to ask their horse to do the things we taught and trained them to do as trainers. This is where most trainers go wrong. The trainer trains the horse and the horse responds well to them and they see their job as “finished”. But the horse goes home and those problems come back or don’t seem to be fixed at all… Humm. 🤨In my professional opinion it’s because there is a miscommunication between the horse and their rider/handler. 🚨That’s why when it comes to riding and transferring what was taught on the ground to the saddle we include the person who will be riding. That way they can learn the cues too. The horse and the handler can be on the same page and know what to expect from one another. We believe only then, the training will be successful.
