I received this message from Craig's son, Jason, just a little while ago.

QUOTE: They had started to wean his sedation before I got here. He started to open his eyes and respond to my voice so they decided to try and extubate him. So far he's doing ok. He's still a little delirious and can't really talk because he's been intubated so long, but he's awake and able to follow commands.
This is the best news that I have received in 10 days and I'm going to visit Craig this afternoon. ๐Ÿ˜Š

I feel the need to apologize for not touching base with everyone that has sent messages, as well as, keeping up with current reports on Craig.
I've been trying to get keep myself together to take care of our dogs, and our grandson Dantae, while feeling depressed, and riddled with extreme fear and anxiety. I pretty much just walked away from my phone.
Tests have ruled out brain bleed, stoke, and seizures. Its been 10 days and Craig is still sedated with a ventilator due to becoming very agitated as the sedation begins to be decreased. The staff needs Craig to remain calm in order to remove it and they're trying again today. I was told this morning that Craig has been moving everything on his body but has not yet opened his eyes.
Please continue to keep us in prayers for strength, guidance, and healing. We both have a long and rocky road ahead of us.

Craig had a set back yesterday and isn't doing good.

He's not breathing well on his own, therefore, they couldn't remove his ventilator yesterday or today (and has now been kept highly sedated with a ventilator for 7 days.) The staff had to increase his sedation and oxygen back up due to a high spike with his blood pressure after slowly weaning him down in order to remove the venilator and begin to wake up. His vitals are good, and his cultures came back good with exception of a little Sepsis. Craig's CT scan from yesterday came back ok, and his MRI for a stroke and brain bleed was found to be negative. Although his legs began to move, he hasn't had any eye movement. Now I'm terrified!!! Friday everything was looking up.

Craig will be having an EEG tomorrow to try to figure out why he can't wake up. ๐Ÿ˜ญ
Please continue to send prayers and good vibes.

Craig has always been an active, and loving father of two children, a stepdaughter, and 8 grandchildren. He has had multiple vascular surgeries due to hereditary vascular disease the past two and a half years, and was sent sent by life flight five days ago undergoing two surgeries this week,, then underwent an above knee amputation this morning.
Craig has been having difficulties with his health insurance, and most bills are being paid out of pocket, not to mention the large amounts of deductibles due from his previous surgeries, and those yet to come.
Craig will need months of physical therapy prior to, as well as, learning to walk with a prosthetic in several months. He had just returned to work full-time and now the struggle begins once again with a long road of recovery to follow.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out and supported us and our business in this difficult time of need.

*Update* 6/20/24 Craig will be undergoing above the knee amputation today, the surgeons dโ€ฆ Arah Leonard needs your support for Support for Craig & Deena

UPDATE: Friday, June 21, 2024.
Craig underwent surgery at 7:00 am this morning and was in the recovery room before 8:00. The amputation was successful, Craig had good blood flow just above the knee and was without infection. Craig's amputation was preformed just above the knee and the surgical team didn't have to go any further up his thigh. I'm thankful that his fever from last night broke and that he's alive. Continued thoughts and prayers please, because his terror when he wakes up and realizes that this has happened will be shocking and traumatic for both of us. The next few months will will be a struggle, however we will endure it with the support of God, friends, family, and people that I didn't even know cared. ๐Ÿงก

UPDATE: Thursday, June 20, 2024
Craig's amputation was not completed today today, and I can only assume that his surgeon ran into unforeseen emergencies with other patients, and Craig's leg below knee has already died. He is supposed to have surgery sometime tomorrow.
Craig is now running a fever and multiple cultures have been sent to the lab. I (Deena) am scared to death. PLEASE continue prayers and sent good vibes his way. I also need prayers for strength as I feel like I'm crashing quickly.

UPDATE. Craig has been kept in an unconscious state since Sunday and although his surgeon and surgical staff have done all that they could possibly do, the medications and surgeries have not helped to break open his clots. Craig will be undergoing an above knee amputation tomorrow and will wake up on Friday to find that he no longer has a knee, leg, or foot. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. I'm terrified. ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Craig would not be happy that I'm sharing this news because he's a very private person, but we need help! Please pray for us and put us on prayers chains if you believe in God.

Craig was sent by life flight on Sunday to Altoona UPMC and is being kept in an unconscious state due to full clotting below knee. He will be having his 2nd surgery today, and will most likely have another one or two in the days to come, Craig's vascular surgeon is doing everything possible to open his vein, otherwise an amputation will follow. ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Dantae loves his newest female friend Freya! She is a 170 lb, two year old Great Dane that came a few months ago to critique some basic obedience, work on behaviors, all-around socialization, and loose-leash walk. Freya has made leaps and bounds and she couldn't be a sweeter girl.
Dantae felt like a King when he had control of her leash and walked her in town. โค

At the moment, Delaney was playing the "hard to get girl"; in my opinion it was the perfect flirt move because she chases Dizy too.
My opinion doesn't matter, however, I Deena, was nominated "Class Flirt" my senior year in high school. ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿคช๐Ÿ˜‚

5 month old Pierre came for an evaluation today and was found to be very sweet and calm for his young age. His all-around socialization is very good too. Pierre will be completing a few training sessions and will be joining our Wednesday pack soon.

Reese was rescued from a puppy mill and was found to be extremely timid, terrified of everything, and didn't know anything except for a crate.
Reese is working on building his confidence and is slowly working on basic obedience, socialization, and loose-leash walking. He continues to make progress weekly. ๐Ÿ’™
