Meet “FLOWER”, she is about 9 mo. old and she has 3 legs! Sadly, she was attacked by a dog and her owner would not take her to the vet for her bites. A fellow rescuer was able to save her- she was barely conscious- and took her to a vet. They tried to save her leg but ultimately believed amputation was in her best interest.
She has gotten used to having 3 legs and it has not slowed her down at all.

Flower has now been spayed and is up to date on all shots. She LOVES other dogs and cats and is super playful. She carries her toys around all the time and loves cuddles. We are unsure how she is with small kids so best she go to a home without super little ones.

Meet Barnaby!

This approximately 10- 12 year old sweet senior found himself at the shelter when he was picked up by the Mount Vernon Police Department as a stray as never claimed. Probably for the best as Barnaby was in rough shape. Barnaby was matted and filthy. He has since been shaved down and vetted. Barnaby has a heart murmur that was discovered, but is doing well. We must keep animal cruelty out of our community!!! I ask everyone to get involved with this case because we have more evidence that this is indeed true and have more pictures and footage of animal cruelty under this shelter… very sad for these animals.

Wow all this happening in Bedford, NY?!! This woman should be ashamed of herself!! Breeding animals and neglecting them, what kind of rescue is that?!
Please let this be an animal cruelty awareness to people that if you see something bad, say something and speak up for animals because they cannot!!

It’s been 200 days — Yellow is still waiting for his forever home!

5-year-old Yellow came to us after being left outside the closed Mt. Vernon Animal Shelter. He was not in the best of shape, & we could not figure out what was wrong. We came to understand that Yellow has food allergies, & he is now on a special diet and doing just fine!

Yellow’s an amazing boy — he’s friendly & outgoing, super-affectionate, chatty & fun! He will make you laugh but will also comfort you on your toughest days. Through good times & bad, you will know that you can always count on Yellow to support you!

Although Yellow will need to continue with his special diet, this will NOT present a problem. His new family can order his food through the shelter at a significantly discounted price that is similar to the cost of regular food at the store.

Suzie was not passed over or denied, she was simply stood up because apparently she is not good enough to even meet. It is a bit defeating as this girl originally had inquiry after inquiry and now it feels almost impossible to find her a forever family.

If you were to meet Suzie Q you’d see her wonderful bubbly personality. Her social skills would impress you, and so would her overall obedience. This girl loves to please her humans which makes her an excellent candidate for advanced training. Suzie has enjoyed being around the kiddos, and is always up for new doggy friends. We are not sure about cats, but she does seems to have a prey drive for the little critters outdoors. Suzie is about a year old, and full grown at 27lbs. Meet FLOWER 🌸 8 months, 3 legged girl who needs a forever loving home!!!

Help Flower bloom! My name is flower and I’m super sweet! I was rescued in a state of shock! I was attacked by a dog and left to die. My owner refused to take me to the vet but this girl came along and saved my life! My leg had to be amputated but ! hop around just fine.
It’s been a few months since my surgery I am now able to run around again play with my dog friends and cat friends.. I am now 8 months old and looking for a very loving home to adopt me .
I am fully vaccinated and just a true love at 30 lbs. I don't think i'll get any bigger.

This story breaks my heart & also makes me super angry at these rotten humans!! They should be arrested for animal cruelty!! Unfortunately that probably won’t happen 🤬
