There are so many reasons as to why minimally processed pet foods🫐 are better for your pet’s overall health span & lifespan versus ultra-processed pet foods🥫.
Otitis👂🏼 or ear infections in dogs, is a top 10 veterinary health problem according to research. They are often chronic, while treatment primarily consists of flushing, antibiotics, and/or antifungals.
In a new peer-reviewed veterinary study, scientists show that the prevalence of otitis was significantly reduced within the groups of dogs that were consuming from 26 to 100% of their diet as non-processed foods.
"On the other hand, eating 76–100% of the diet during puppyhood as kibble significantly increased the prevalence of otitis later in their life."
Furthermore, in another previous Finnish Veterinary study, scientists showed healthy human food leftovers offered to puppies significantly reduced allergy symptoms and skin problems later in life. This long-term, protective effect increased the more often real foods were added, so the more exposure puppies had to a variety of healthy leftovers, the more protection there was from developing skin issues down the road.
“…even if the dog eats 80% of its food as dry, adding a minimum of 20% of the food as raw significantly decreased the risk of AASS [allergic skin disease] later in life.” – Dr. Anna Hielm-Björkman

We shouldn’t be waiting until the client has used every last mental and financial resource to consider having them consult with a vet about medications for their dog.

Posted • 🔍 Fact or Fiction: The client caused their dog's separation anxiety
The answer....
⬇️
⬇️
⬇️
⬇️
🚫 FICTION!
It's a common misconception that certain actions by the owner can cause separation anxiety in dogs. However, let's set the record straight: allowing your beloved pup to sleep in your bed, carrying them frequently, showering them with affection, and addressing their fears with care does NOT cause separation anxiety. 🐾❌
Separation anxiety in dogs is a complex condition that can be influenced by various factors, including genetics, past experiences, and individual temperament. It's crucial to approach separation anxiety with understanding and patience, focusing on proper training and gradual desensitization to help your canine friend overcome this challenge.
Remember, being a loving and caring owner doesn't automatically result in separation anxiety.

All of these conditions have something in common ... the rabies vaccine.💉
And here are more rabies-specific reactions:
🚨Hypersensitivity to sound, movement, touch
🚨Rage, agitation, violence, ferocity, sudden attacks, unprovoked attacks, desire to kill …
Behaviors you might expect to see in a dog infected with rabies:
🔴 Irrational fears, timidity, separation anxiety, suspicious behavior
🔴Extreme fear or great desire for water, known as hydrophobia, another term for rabies
🔴 Tail chasing, fly biting, chasing balls, chasing light reflected off a window or mirror
🔴 Convulsions, especially from the sight of running water or shiny object
🔴 Eyes staring with dilated pupils
🔴 Unable to close the eyes; cornea becomes dry and dull
🔴 Inflammation of the heart muscle: disturbed heart function, irregular rhythm, heart rate too slow or too fast, heart failure
But most veterinarians and dog owners don’t recognize the connection between rabies vaccination and some of these symptoms. When your dog chases flies around the house or chases water from the hose ... they're common symptom of rabies vaccine damage.
The rabies virus can cause chronic problems like inflammatory bowel disease, colitis or chronic diarrhea, seizures, epilepsy and more.

Important information for every dog owner to know.
❌ MYTH: Dogs can't eat garlic
✅ BUSTED: Yes they can!
Garlic is good for dogs! But many veterinarians and websites say that even a small amount of garlic can kill your dog.
Here's how the myth started ... There was a study in 2000 when the equivalent of 20 heads of garlic were given to 4 dogs over 7 days. Now that’s excessive by any standard.
You see, the researchers wanted to see if garlic affected the hemoglobin in red blood cells. These four dogs were INJECTED with concentrated garlic extract DIRECTLY INTO THEIR STOMACHS for 7 days. And nothing happened.
The study states: "However, no dog developed hemolytic anemia." But the recommendation to avoid garlic in dogs is what everyone remembers.
So here's why you should feed garlic to dogs:
✅ It's antibiotic, antifungal and antiparasitic
✅It been shown to repel fleas and ticks
✅It has anti-cancer effects

Posted • A 150 lb Mastiff puppy was on leash but the guardian let the other adult dog off leash in an in fenced park. She went after a 4 month old yellow puppy. The guardian was a 6’4” man and he couldn’t get the dog off the puppy. She had the pup by the throat and pups tongue was turning blue. I was across the park but heard the cries from the pup and ran over. I grabbed the hind legs if the 150lb dog and yanked her off. I didn’t care if I broke a leg if I could save the pups life. I got her off and the guardian was able to grab her, put a leash on and get away. His parting words to me were. “What the hell do you think you’re doing touching my dog?” There was also much profanity in his vitriolic response.
I didn’t care nor did I respond. I stay w the pup comforting her and the pups guardian who panicked and froze.
People freeze because they don’t know what to do. Now you do and don’t be afraid to do what needs to be done to save a life.

There are a lot of complicated theories and ways of approaching working with aggression in dogs. But for me, aggression is behavior. It is the behavior they display in response to something threatening or a provocative stimulus in the environment. Want to learn more about understanding dog aggression?
