Team GCK has officially wrapped up a very busy summer! We spent our first summer trip in NE Michigan and trained on a ton of phenomenal grounds thanks to our friends at As You Wish Retrievers and Bloodline Retrievers and then wrapped up the last few weeks of summer with some HRC finished passes, AKC Master passes, and the bow on top this weekend with HRCH Nate earning at Jam at the NW Missouri DQ!

We are glad to be back home and we will hit the ground running next weekend for our fall hunt test campaign at Four States HRC!! Big thank you to all of wonderful clients for trusting us with your pups, we truly could not do this without all of your support and your phenomenal animals!!

Sometimes it just ain’t your day. The GCK crew gave it all we had and still came up just a little bit short at the HRC International Grand there is so much luck involved in passing this event and Lady Luck just wasn’t on our side this week.

HRCH Lex caught the first swing of bad luck on Saturday and had to run in the pouring rain and low visibility and even though he gave it his all just couldn’t quite find that long memory bird.

HRCH Knox was running her first Grand and she smoked the first series and then her lack of age and experience caught up to her in the 2nd series and she had to double handle.

HRCH Nate ran a great Grand, gave everything he had and was one bird away in the 4th series from going to the upland but just couldn’t quite dig it out and pointed out in the 4th. Extremely proud of him and his effort.

HRCH Yogi (one grand pass) made it all the way to the 5th series upland, he did great on his walk up birds, flushed the chukar, sat for the shots, and the chukar fluttered down still alive less than 5yds from him… and we all know that boy is just too high strung for all that, so we went out on a controlled break. Heartbreaking.

I can’t express how proud I am of all our dogs and the effort we gave as a team and very thankful to these dogs owners for trusting GCK to train and handle these phenomenal animals.

Time to train train train and get ready for the rematch in St Louis come October!!

Big Lex aka Sexy Lexy came back this spring in a bad way, even with preventative in place he had caught a tapeworm this winter from one of the places he stayed while on a hunting trip and it had really drained him physically and taken a lot of his muscle mass away and he weighed just 63-64lbs. His owners tried and tried to get weight back on him with other foods and just couldn’t gain ground. Well in just 2 short months of eating Joy Dog Food Super Meal 30/20 Sexy Lexy is BACK!! He’s back to his normal running weight of 75lbs, muscles are back, he’s looking great, feeling great, and ready to tackle the Grand!

Proud of these two knuckleheads for hanging with me at the Central Arkansas retriever club Qualifying today!

Knox owned by Eric Wiles ran a strong trial and was just one bobble in the 4th series away from running a dang near perfect trial. She’s only a 2yr old and just running her 2nd trial so we will get back at it and she will definitely be a dog to watch!

Yogi owned by Scotty and Alisha Howard ran a great trial and came away with the Reserve Jam. He has finished 2 of the last 3 trials he’s ran and gets better everytime!

Time to keep grinding, getting better, and one day we will hang one of those elusive Blue ribbons at Garner Creek Kennels!

Litter confirmed via ultrasound due March 20 up for discussion.
Pick up in Redfield, Ar the week of May 8. Black and chocolate pups expected, but a possibility of yellow as well.
These will be some very well rounded pups with potential for anything you want to do with them. Both parents have produced nice pups in previous litters and pups are currently in training campaigning in both hunt tests and field trials.

ISO employee to start first in the first couple weeks of February. Located in McRae, Ar.

Pay starts at $12.50 an hour and will have opportunities for pay raises as employee value increases, and you will be paid every Friday. This an ideal starter job for anybody that’s interested in learning about dog training.

Job duties include but are not limited to:

1) Cleaning and sanitizing dog kennels, airing yard, and dog trailers
2) Throwing birds for retriever training
3) Mowing/ w**d eating property

MUST HAVES:
1) Reliable transportation
2) Ability to be prompt and on time
3) Like dogs and lots of them

If you’re willing to work I am willing to teach you anything there is to know about this line of work.

Hours will vary based on weather but generally speaking spring time hours will be roughly 8am-3pm with a break for lunch in the field.
Summer hours will get earlier in the mornings as the heat increases but you will also be off earlier in the day. In the heat of the summer somewhere around 5am-11am is normal. There will occasionally be some weekends we need your help but we try to limit this as much as possible as to not overwork people.

5 work shirts and a hoodie are provided to wear while working with us. Other gear can be discussed the longer you’re with us.
