Beef Available
I am taking some beef in July. Please let me know if you have questions about how to buy directly from a farmer or if you are interested. 1/4 beef is around $900-1000, but it really depends on the size of the animal. I can sell by % of the animal. This includes all processor fees. Grass-fed and unsprayed hay in winter. US Congress dropped the law requiring beef labels to state the country of origin a few years ago. You have our word our beef is locally born and raised, hay is local, processing is local.
Pork is all spoken for. It is not genetically modified, which is legal now. You can look to see who owns the majority of the pork industry in the US. Here's a hint: It isn't US farmers or businesses.

We don't pull many calves. Occasionally, first-time mamas are unaware of exactly what is happening, so we offer support, and rarely, intervene. It took 2 adults and 2 teens 3 hours of our own hard labor, but she is so worth it. Both mama and baby girl are doing great. She's as sweet as she looks.

These guys bought a nice batch of chicks and have raised them to a beautiful flock. If you are near Beechgrove, come grab some healthy eggs straight from the farm. They just put their sign out yesterday.

Monday at dawn we had a farm first: twin calves. This is uncommon and usually goes poorly in cattle. Mama was confused and rejected the 2nd born. We're amazed and thankful they're all 3 alive. God was extra gracious to spare each of them. Baby Oscar will have to be a bottle calf. Picking his limp head up off the ground and feeding a newborn calf is pretty precious.

A busy and sweet week here at our house. The first of this year's calves, a half dozen piglets, and a pile of pups made their debut. We'll never get tired of new life!

Why did we do a puppy ultrasound? Mama dogs have 2 sides, or horns, to their uterus. A single pup on 1 side might grow too large and need a C-section. It's an easy way to make sure mama Ruby and pups are healthy. More puppy videos coming in a month!
