My heart is heavy this week as I’ve had to make the difficult decision to put my daily dog walking services on hold. After eight or nine years, (I can’t even remember at this point) I have met some of the most amazing families ever. I’ve always said how blessed I am to have known so many of you and loved your little fur babies but we always knew they would come a point where I would need to return to work full-time. I’ve just been so honored to be welcomed into your home and your hearts.

I will still be able to care for my feline clients, and I’m still available on weekends and summers for vacations

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to do what I love for so many years!!

From Nikki Karis, Founder of Tail Life:

Here is a link to Amazon, where you can purchase book one of my Goddogs series, chronicling my journey of awakening and how I came to learn the 10 Commandments of Dog Ownership and much more. It's a MUST READ!

P.S. I did not write the Ten Commandments, as they are attributable to Stan Rawlinson from Great Britain. The prior photo was removed by me and replaced with an image of the cover of my book. The post was edited 8 days after its original posting. Thank you.

The Ten Commandments of Dog Ownership

1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation from you will be very hard and painful for me. Remember that before you adopt me.
2. Give me time to understand what you want from me. Please be patient with me.
3. Place your trust in me. It is crucial for my well being.
4. Do not be angry with me for long, and do not lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your friends and your entertainment. I only have you!
5. Talk to me, even if I do not understand your words, I understand your voice when it is speaking to me. You only have to look at my tail!
6. Be aware that however you treat me, I will never forget it!
7. Before you hit me, remember that I have teeth that could crush the bones in your hand, but I choose not to bite you. (DON'T HIT YOUR DOG!)
8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I am in pain or sick, or my heart might be getting weak and I cannot tell you.
9. Take care of me when I get old, you too will grow old someday.
10. Go with me on difficult journeys. Never say, “I can’t bear to watch it” or, “let it happen in my absence.” Everything is easier for me if you are there.

** And always remember, I Love You!

10 THINGS YOUR DOG WOULD TELL YOU...

1. My life is likely to last 10 to 15 years. Any separation from you will be painful: remember that before you get me.

2. Give me time to understand what you want of me.

3. Place your trust in me- it is crucial to my well being.

4. Do not be angry at me for long, and do not lock me up as punishment.

5. You have your work, your entertainment, and your friends. I only have you.

6. Talk to me sometimes. Even if I don’t understands your words, I understand your voice when it is speaking to me.

7. Be aware that how ever you treat me, I will never forget.

8. Remember before you hit me that I have teeth that could easily hurt you, but I choose not to bite you because I love you.

9. Before you scold me for being uncooperative, obstinate, or lazy, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I might not be getting the right food, or I have been out too long, or my heart is getting too old and weak.

10. Take care of me when I get old; you too will grow old. Go with me on difficult journeys. Never say: “I cannot bear to watch” or “Let it happen in my absence.” Everything is easier for me if you are there, even my death.

Remember I love you.

Just an FYI if you have any reservations for boarding at area kennels please reach out and make sure your reservation is confirmed Because I just received word that many have over booked through September and that you are aware many many facilities are having rampant cases of kennel cough. The vaccine for kennel cough does not prevent it but just lessens the symptoms. 🐶😺

This person gets me...

If you decide to bring your dog around me, here are some things you should know:

1. I might say hi to you.
2. I will ABSOLUTELY say hi to your dog.
3. I will talk in a weird, high, squeaky voice—possibly an oddly low voice if it’s a big dog. I’ll just use whatever voice I think Your dog will best understand, okay?
4. I will try not to ignore you completely, but I make no promises. I only have so much energy to give, and a large part of it is gonna go to your pet.
5. I will ask your dog if it wants to come home with me at least once. I have three kids and two dogs of my own, I promise, I have no intentions of stealing your beloved pooch. It’s just something I am obliged to ask.
6. If I say I love You, ignore me. I’m not talking to you, I’m talking to your dog.

*This is a picture of me from last night on my hands and knees, saying goodbye to my friend’s dog. I really cannot help it. This is the way I am. I make zero apologies. You chose to bring them around me, so that’s on you. God chose to make dogs the most lovable fur creatures in the planet, so that’s on Him.
