The horses we advertise are owned by a dealer who has purchased them from auction or privately and our mission is to get as many of them into homes before they are returned to the horrid auction pipeline where they will either remain until their demise or will fall into the hands of others and will be shipped to the unknown. We work tirelessly to provide the best care for these horses while with u

s and do our best to represent them honestly and find them new placement ultimately and likely saving their lives and stopping them from enduring endless suffering. The horses we post are often horses that are in need of "step down jobs" and may be older or not able to preform like the could in their younger years but are still wonderful and able to do lower level jobs like pleasure riding or driving or just providing companionship. Some are diamonds in the rough that have fallen through the cracks and with a little TLC become the beautiful animal they were meant to be. We will be as honest as possible and try to show you all the details about every horse but we only know as much as we can see or are told by the previous owner (assuming that was a truth). We do not place any guarantees on any of these horses! What to do if you see a horse you would like to pull:
1. Via messaging the page or giving us a call or text! (please be mindful that we have other jobs and tons of horses to care for so if we don't get right back to you we will as soon as we can!)
2. We accept multiple forms of payment and can send or request and invoice.
3. Set up hauling, pick up time, Quarantine ect to ensure we get your new love out of here and into a safe place as soon as possible! We will accept a $200 dollar non refundable deposit to hold the horse of your choice for 48 hours until full payment is required. All horses are available on a FIRST COME FIRST SERVE basis! We want all of these horses to get homes and out of the pen as soon as they possibly can. It is better for the horse and for us as we can then focus on the next horse. "Safe" horses must be picked up within 2 days. If they cannot be picked up by then board will be charged at $20 dollars a day. (Again it is much better for the horses to leave asap as the pen can be a stressful ever changing place for them)

SECOND CHANCE LIVESTOCK STRONGLY RECCOMENDS A FULL 30 DAY QUARANTNE BEFORE INTRODUCING YOUR NEW HORSE TO YOUR HERD!!!!! All second Chance Livestock horses are purchased through auctions and private homes and are often housed together and could possibly be exposed to a number of illnesses. (Think of it like children in a school!)
• Quarantine period: Isolate new horses from other horses for at least 30 days.
• Separate equipment: Use separate equipment, such as buckets, grooming tools, and pitchforks, for the new horse. Mark the new horse's equipment as needed.

• Monitor for illness: Check the horse's temperature, pulse, and respiration rate daily. Take Temperatures a normal Horse temp is 99

• Prevent contact: Keep the quarantined horse away from other horses and people. Wash your hands after handling the horse.

• Exercise: Horses should be turned out in their own personal turn out AWAY from your horses regular turnout

• Disinfect: Thoroughly disinfect anything the horse touches.

• Observe closely: Pay close attention to the horse during quarantine to catch and address any potential issues early. Monitor feed/water intake and manure/urine out put. Monitor personality are they bight and alert or sad and quiet?

• Continue monitoring: After moving the horse to the general population, continue to monitor it for signs of disease for several days

🆘🆘URGENT: Help Needed for #138 🆘 🆘

We have been working tirelessly to find the best possible solution for #138, and after much discussion, we’ve come up with an option.

⭐️Community Bail to an Established Rescue⭐️

We are actively seeking a 501(c)(3) rescue or sanctuary that can take on #138 and provide him with the medical attention he needs for his eye. This will require community-bailed financial assistance to cover the costs. If a rescue steps up, we will support their fundraising efforts by sharing their campaign on our page.

Thank you for helping us make a difference for #138. We are trying our hardest to alleviate his suffering.

🛑Horse Details🛑
Hip #138: Belgian Gelding
Age: 20+ years old
Height: 18+ hands

We have been giving him some banamine to make him as comfortable as we can, but he really needs to be bailed rather quickly. Let's get this guy a nice home asap!

🚨Criteria for RESCUE🚨
-Must be a 501(c)(3) rescue or sanctuary that is admin team approved
-Must provide proof that medical attention was sought and be immediate
⭐️Fundraising Goal⭐️
Total: $3,725
Medical care (enucleation) estimate: $3,000
Bail fee: $725 to Second Chance Livestock

Next on the list… #135!

This sweet mare has experienced a lot of changes this week. Before she came to us, she lived on the same Amish farm for 18 years. The previous owner purchased her when she was two. She’s been a typical, tried-and-true Amish horse—she rides and drives and would make a lovely English pony.

Now, here’s the catch: She has a hernia. The previous owner said she’s had it since she was two and that it has never caused any issues. If it weren’t for that, I’d confidently say she’d be a high-dollar pony. She is friendly, eager to please, and a bit of a treat hog.

If life wasn’t hard enough, her friend ( #136) left for her new home today. So now, she’s homeless, friendless, and her deadline is fast approaching. Let’s get her a home!

⭐️SAFE⭐️

Since we had luck tonight with finding #134 a home, let’s try our luck with #137!

Let’s switch things up a bit. Where are all my Standardbred fans? “Somebody’s Art” is a registered Standardbred mare, born in 2004. If you’re looking for a grandma-safe, sweet, and gentle soul, this is your girl. She rides, drives, and is an overall gem. I could definitely see her thriving in a therapy program. She’s mannerly, well-educated, and appreciative. For those of you who message me asking for companion horses—HERE she is! NOW, don’t let that eye scare you. Although she cannot see out of it, she doesn’t miss a beat. After some TLC and a date with a farrier she’ll be good to go.

Let’s keep the winning streak going. Can she get a home tonight too, please?

⭐️⭐️⭐️SAFE⭐️⭐️⭐️

I am in disbelief that he is STILL here, so let me reintroduce you to #134.

I answer what feels like a million questions a day: “Do you have anything beginner safe?”, “Do you ever come across something I can take out on trails?”, “Do you ever get lesson type horses in?” Well, now I have him. And yet… crickets. There are no messages for him. Where are his people?

This gelding rode REALLY well for us. He also drove superbly—didn’t even bat an eye at the thousand distractions around the farm. He’s good with traffic, good with dogs, and wants to be your best friend in the pen. Plus, he’s not hard to look at. He even made Terry smile (and that’s no easy task)! Is there something I’m missing?

Let’s just chalk this up to a misunderstanding or an algorithm issue. I’m confident his people are out there. Let’s get this guy a home tonight!

LOAD 2 MASTER LIST:
Horse list 1-10-2024

Hip #134- Draft Gelding/ 20 years old/ 16.3 Hands. What a cool horse! This gelding rode superbly. He has also been driven extensively. He is said to be safe for anyone and we absolutely believe that. This gentleman did not make a wrong step. He traveled well for us! Can’t fault him anywhere. ⭐️SAFE⭐️

Hip #135- Morgan Cross Mare/ 20 years old/ 14 hands. This mare rode wonderfully during her evaluation. She was eager to please and had a very pleasant demeanor. The previous owner had her since she was two. The previous owner also said the hernia has been there since she arrived on his farm and has not bothered her. Despite that, she will make someone a very fun riding horse. 750

Hip #136- Morgan Cross Mare/ 16 years old/ 14 hands. This mare is said to be exposed to a Paint Stallion. We have not had a vet confirm this. She has been a broodmare for the past several years. We did not ride her, as her front legs are very crooked. She can definitely use some farrier attention as well. She was sweet and easy to get along with. ⭐️SAFE⭐️

Hip #137- Registered Standardbred Mare “Somebody’s Art”- 2004 Model/ 15 hands. This poor mare is blind in her right eye. She took a rider willingly with absolutely no issues. She also could use some farrier attention. She is super willing, friendly, and enjoys her treats. ⭐️SAFE⭐️

Hip #138- Belgian Gelding/ 20 + years old/ 18+ hands. This guy needs some TLC. His right eye has ruptured and will need to be enucleated. Despite that, he took a rider with ease and was a complete mush throughout the whole evaluation. We have been giving him some banamine to make him as comfortable as we can, but he really needs to be bailed rather quickly. Let's get this guy a nice home asap! 725

Hip #139-Haflinger Mare/ 20 + year old mare/ 13 hands. “Bullfrog” was driven to school by the local Amish kids! This is a super cool mare! Bullfrog was a seasoned veteran during her evaluation. She rode off like an old pro! Rides and Drives the best. She will be a great addition to any barn or program! ⭐️SAFE⭐️

Hip #140- 🤍Given Last Act of Kindness 🤍Registered Standardbred Mare “I Won’t Back Down”/2009 Model. SOS! This mare needs out of here IMMEDIATELY or should humanely euthanized. This poor girl came out of a very bad situation. She has been struggling since she arrived. She went down in the pen this morning. We have given her banamine to assist her. She is upright and eating as of now, but this is no place for a horse in her condition. She is uncomfortable here. If an experienced home is not able to assist her we would like the community’s assistance to humanely euthanize her. She is URGENT. *** DEADLINE: TBD***
