The very humble beginnings of H&H in 2019. Just me, trying to make every morning of cleaning 15 stalls of 15 stall-walking horses a bit easier. (If you know you know 🙈) Along with the fact that without stepping in to 4 inches of water in a stall from a chewed up automatic waterer was a very, very good day. When - “You should sell these” and “Can you make me some?”, became a common conversation - Horse & Herd Equine Enrichment Company took its first little steps toward what it is now. I’d still say the metamorphosis is still in caterpillar stage with so many wishes and ideas still waiting to emerge from the cocoon of it all. In Sweden you say “everything has its own time” and with thoughtful patience, what will emerge perhaps won’t be a butterfly, but an entirely different be-winged creature, (baby dragon? sleipnir? pegasus?) created with the passion and compassion we all share.

We tried to ride out the storm, but the day has unfortunately or inevitably come.
During the past two years, due to supply shortages, delays, the cost of ingredients, healthy wage for fair work, and the constantly rising living cost of the Bozeman area, all gone up 10%-30%. Horse & Herd has basically been acting as a “non-profit charitable organization”. Of course, wouldn’t it be nice if that was sufficient.

Our products are unmatched on the equine enrichment market when it comes to quality and longevity, all due to the handmade labor and quality ingredients which in the beginning left us with margins not adequate for much more than that. Let alone prepared us for what has surpassed the majority of us all in recent years.

We see H&H’s mission as a way for you, to bring to your horse, a ”welfare, wood/automatic waterer saver, and let me just love on you product”. Therefore, keeping the price as low as possible has and always will be imperative to us. We do not want the
products to become something that the “hobbyists” (but horses are the loves of my life) equestrians like me, hesitate to give them a try just because of their price.

As of today all products in the online store will cost $1 more. We shall then reassess along with the ever evolving production process in order to keep prices as low as possible.

One more month of doing what we have been doing is not worthy of comparison to the tragic war ongoing in Ukraine. Despite that fact, for the next 30 days $1 per product purchased through the website will be donated in-full directly to the kind souls doing everything they can for the horses stuck in war-torn Ukraine, where the lack of food, shelter, bedding, and medicine is a hardship they have no control over. https://helpukrainehorses.eu/en/285-2/?amp=1

🥰🥰🥰 Growing up in Sweden, having to make the long winters as fun as possible… along with all of the the winter sports imaginable, basically be obligatory to learn in school … .roan has peaked my interest to possibly want to participate in more than just a sponsorship of this very fascinating and fun looking sport.
