Looks like another hot week ahead here in SW Montana. Don’t forget to keep your horses water clean and FULL! We scrub waters a few times a week here and fill them daily, if not automatic. A salt supply near helps encourage hydration as well. ALSO as a perk the board of the show is sponsoring some AQHA memberships to make it easier for ALL to join and grow our membership full of folks just like you.

Have an AQHA horse? Are you new to showing? Don’t have an AQHA membership yet? MQHA Amateurs have generously offered to sponsor SIX new YOUTH and TWO new AMATEUR memberships for anyone showing in the AQHA classes at this summer’s Spark Some Fun AQHA show! All you need to do is complete the application for an AQHA membership at the show, and participate in four or more classes. The participant must pay all other show fees.

Have any questions? Reach out today. This is a L1 and Rookie friendly show and we would love to have your participation. Some indoors stalls are still available, but filling up quickly! Many outdoor stalls available.

Here’s to 2023. What a year we have had here at I’m so thankful for our crew of boarders. I interview every human that comes on property, but you can’t always see the horses that come, until they step off the trailer.
This is Cinnabon’s story. He arrived early/mid June. I saw him the night he got here when he was in quarantine and I was surprised to see how skinny and somber he was. I was told he was older and had been through a lot of change. Thankfully he came with a buddy so he had a pal beside him while he quarantined. We started slow with ramping up his hay amounts and hoped for the best. His dedicated owner kept vets coming regularly for the first few weeks (maybe months?) while he was here. The first photo on the left was taken June 22 shortly after he was introduced to his private run in the back barn. We kept feeding him nutrient rich hay and his grain was ramped up, safely and slowly. He started instantly putting on weight and started to perk up and let go of his coat. His owner would turn him out in the outdoor arena with his buddy and they would start playing. After a couple months they noticed him running and playing, something he had yet to do in front of them. He was introduced to some body-work and lunging with a equicore to help him develop muscle tone. I think finally after 3ish months he was healthy enough to be ridden, that was emotional to witness to say the least. The photo to the right was taken after he had been here for about five months in late November; being WILD in his turnout time with his buddy. Today Cinnabon is happy, alert and looking better than ever. We are all so thankful of his comeback and excited to see what the new year brings for him.
So let’s treat the new year with grace. Lean into those hard moments and don’t give up. Be consistent but brave enough to ask for help, and pivot when needed. Collaborate with your core group and always run wild when you feel good. I still have so so much to learn in this life, but with success stories like Cinnabon’s, it’s motivating on so many levels. I hope you have the Happiest of New Years from all of us at 🌞

What a turn out! Double R hosted the second annual Halloween Extravaganza! Need to zoom in, but we had the following folks show up: a Lily flower and bumblebee, Travis Kelce and his adoring mom, Taylor Swift and a Swiftie, a twilight witch, an electric ninja, a spooky headless horsewoman, the Queen herself and her royal horse!, and a stitch masked mystery man!! What a fun night and everyone enjoyed some of Dave’s Famous chili after the festivities!

As this incredible Fall weather comes to an end. I’m feeling so thankful for our extended season and ready for Winter. We are currently full with a fantastic group of boarders and friends headed into the holiday season! We are ramping up for a Dave’s famous chili night and costume contest this upcoming weekend!! Stay tuned for a spooky night of activities and prizes :)
