We have a couple new faces here at DOR. First up our new 6 month old Buck who just arrived. Everyone welcome Marty... Also we have two Doelings Cinnamon and Ginger 4/5 months old. And my first 3 Adult females Bijou, Flower and Bamby who are the last goat pictures looking at us though the rase gate. All are in the barn getting used to each other and the new digs. Ella is maturing nicely and both her and Daphne are like who are they...

Here is a wonderful Daughter of Daphne and sired by TFW Let's Do It. Who is owned by Catherine Jaton. I can't wait to breed Daphne again we are looking around at studs for her and are expecting a half sibling fingers crossed for 2025.

The no see'ems are awful this morning here... I couldn't resist snapping some candids of the horses this morning in the upper section mowing the lawn for me... The black horse is my Baby Ella not so much of a baby anymore 🥹 she it blooming into a beautiful mare.

Well it's final... As sad as I am to see Dream move on from my home as she was my heart horse. I couldn't be more excited for her and her future as a Broodmare.

Finally now that we have found a solution to our problem I am happy to share it to help others that might be facing the same issue. For the last week I have struggled to get my horses to drink water. I'm not talking about, they have only been drinking a half bucket at a time. I mean they would go 2 days without water at a time. I had been talking to my sister and a couple close friends and family about this issue. The first thoughts were let's put a 50 pound salt block in the field maybe they need more than what I was providing. And yes they did go right for the block the moment we put it in with them. However that would turn out that was not enough to encourage them to drink enough water. We then decided to make molasses water which worked for a day and a half then they wouldn't even look at it. Then we decided they must not like the tubs so we gave those a deep bleach clean and filled them again no change. I finally said I think at this point we need a new hose and a filter. We went to Walmart and got the RV hose filter you see in this picture. IT FINALLY WORKED!!!! took the filter over night to really work but this morning when I filled the water tub they drank I even tasted the water from the hose and it's normal THANK GOD!! All I can tell you is, IF you are having trouble getting your animals to drink go to Walmart and get an RV hose filter and fill your tubs that way because this was a blessing. With all this smoke and rain my water tasted awful like Iron mixed with mud, rock and something else I couldn't identify. Also note that not all Walmarts carry RV filters, so make sure that your Walmart does or another one nearby does. This was only $18. And change to get my horses drinking and what a relief. I hope this helps someone else who might be struggling.

It's truly amazing what they can do to a round bale in 36 hours 🤦. Poor Ella is really ouchy now after she got caught up in the fence on Monday during the great escape.. best thing for her to be outside walking around. I'm reeling ya you literally have to wrap them in Bubble wrap and even then you can't stop them from doing stupid crap 😞.

I took these from the back porch.. They are all back to normal after a quick run around the front yard and down the road which is a major route... And then back down there they went quiet by mistake I might add but worked out great for us 😂... And no the back line is cattle fencing with electric so they won't push that... Just the panels because that's fun!!

This is a son of Lippy and phenomenal mr congratulations Carrie on your secses with this boy. So glad we have Lippy as part of our small program. She is in foal to our stallion No Opposition and expecting a foal with similar conformation and looks. Also added pictures of Lippy and Clark.

One of my favorite pictures of Missy that my sister snapped of her. This picture makes her look like a handful. But she really wasn't, she was the Sweetest kind soul in horse you could've ever asked for. I hope Mom and Missy are getting into some trouble up there. Till we meet again ♥️

Update on Missy we remain hopeful. She is back to being uncomfortable in this heat even with a big floor fan on her. She is up and down but at least not rolling or thrashing. Vet will be here in a little bit to do more forced fluids and ultrasound please keep praying for her everyone she definitely is not out of the woods.

This, this right here is what makes raising baby anything so hard... It's has been unseasonably hot here in Maine this summer. Thursday we had a heat index warning of 100 which we rarely see here particularly in a stretch. Here you see my Foal Daphne and Clark Daughter in major distress. I checked them at 11/11:30 this morning but got busy getting puppies ready to go home this afternoon. (Did not check the horses till dinner time) 6:30 ish David and one of the Poodle pups hit the road after David was done with work. Just after that I go to the barn to feed up. My beautiful Missy was crumpled up in a heap and looked Dead then. I picked her (Thankfully she moved a leg) it was after that the full extent of her pain was realized I at first thought she suffered some kind of head trama but after looking at the mess of a stall and the all the body signs she showed it was clear I needed help and my sister's help. I get Brooke on a video call and the look that came over her face was just blanched. "Get your ASAP I'm On My Way" which was the next call. Got Dr. Blanchard at Maine Farm Vet on the phone gave him the full scope of what I walked in to. "Get banamine in her I'll be there in 45 mins." I got 3cc in her orally. It helped quieted her and she slept. By the time Brooke and Dr. Blanchard arrived Missy stood on her own did not stay up long but got up. Drugs later and two Jugs plus drained stomach and forced fluids later and an ultrasound it was decided that surgery was not an option. She is better on the right side then the left. In the small intestine she has a blockage that may have or may not have twisted. What I can tell you all is she is at this point with management comfortable enough to sleep in her mom's hay with out groaning. The next 12 hours will determine weather we can clinically turn her around or if we will have to face saying good by. Heat SUCKS 😞!!! Colic Blows!!! If everyone could please say a prayer 🙏 for Missy that would be appreciated... My poor baby ❤️ God speed little girl we are crossing all our limbs for you.

Well it was tooooo icy to turn everyone out in the big turn outs so we did rotation turn out off the front of the barn... Daphne kills me!!! All big and bad 😂
