Animal Friends of Barbour County Animal Friends of Barbour County is volunteer run no-kill animal shelter in rural West Virginia. Con Our hours are by appointment only.

Animal Friends of Barbour County realized their dream of a brand new shelter facility just in time for Christmas of 2011. The shelter was built, in full, by a generous and anonymous member of our community. We have four dedicated cat rooms, 28 dog runs, in house laundry and grooming station.

Lyra is a 4 months old Bernese Mountain dog mix. 6 of her siblings have found adoptive or foster homes, but this sweet girl is still waiting. Lyra weighs 18 pounds and she will be a fairly large adult. If you would like to add a loving and mellow puppy to your family, this is the girl for you.

We are asking for your support to help us with our Animal Friends Feline (Cats) account at our local vet Audubon in Philippi. Our balance has reached $7000.00.
We have had several cats with major medical needs. Here are just a few of them. Chandler with the cone on his head was injured and has a cracked sternum bone and a small infected knot behind his ear that needs removed. Also, the tortashell had a growth under her tongue that was removed at the time of her spay. Another one of our cats, Elara came in with mammary tumors that had to be removed. These cats brought to us and dropped off as unwanted by their owners . If you can help us reduce our $7000.00 bill in anyway possible, please do. No amount is to small. These 2 gorgeous boys are 10 weeks old. Sabbath (black) and Zeppelin (Siamese) are both shy and scared right now, but are doing better every day. Sabbath and Zeppelin will need a patient person that will give them time to adjust to new surroundings.
