Animal Friends of Barbour County Animal Friends of Barbour County is volunteer run no-kill animal shelter in rural West Virginia. Con Our hours are by appointment only.

Animal Friends of Barbour County realized their dream of a brand new shelter facility just in time for Christmas of 2011. The shelter was built, in full, by a generous and anonymous member of our community. We have four dedicated cat rooms, 28 dog runs, in house laundry and grooming station.

Our Paws for the Cause Dog Jog/Cat Walk on Sept. 14,was a great success and a lot of fun. Twenty eight walkers or runners turned out, many with their dogs. We even had a bearded dragon join the party! Thank you to Lisa Weese of Mountaineer Running Company for organizing the event and to the generous local sponsors:

This girl would be a fantastic family dog. She is only 6 years old. She was at the shelter when she was a baby. She is housebroken and would make a great walking partner.🩷
