This adorable little fella was found in the worst condition, near a dumpster at a construction site and all alone. A kind couple felt compelled to help him and entrusted us with his care. We affectionately named him Rikki Tikki Trashy, but we also call him Rikki or Rikker Tikker, and sometimes refer to him as just plain CRAZY!

He was a tiny guy when he came in and so sick. We weren't sure we would be able to save his sweet little eyes, but just look at this handsome face now! Rikki had a long road to recovery, but is now fully vetted and ready for a home. He is an entertainer, a total goof ball, but is also mellowing out and learning how to interact and play with cats in a respectful manner now that he has an entire kitty pride to learn from!

Though he is fun, comical, a joy to have around, and we have enjoyed seeing him flourish at the hands of Help From My Friends' Pet Crisis Center, we know a family will be so lucky to invite him into their lives! Just look at those puppy cat sploots!

This regal gentlecat could not function without another energetic and playful cat in the home, but is otherwise suitable for anyone. He is affectionate, purrs like crazy, and a very special boy.

If you're looking for a kitten to add to your family, it really doesn't get better than this. To scoop this gem of a kitty up, please fill out a pre-adoption form at helpfrommyfriends.org!

This isn't in our county. This isn't a dog in our care. But we have met Finnegan and we do know that EVERY animal deserves a life with a family.

Sadly, the overpopulation of animals and the rising cost of living affects the homes that are available.

We wish we had the resources to provide outreach to animals outside our county, however, we are donation based and recognize our limitations at this time. We depend solely on public funding and encourage any help that could assist us in offering our resources further.

We at Help From My Friends' Pet Crisis Center have held onto animals longer than we expected, knowing there is a home waiting for animals like Finnegan. Examples of this here at our center were animals like Simba, Mufasa, Samuel, Lilly, Bebe, Pepper, Binx, and so many more.

We celebrate these adoptions more than the others because we know that it takes special people to offer a home that is ideal for each and every animal.

Finnegan waited 952 days before he met his new family who offered him the salvation he deserved. Animals are worth our time, energy, and compassion. Adopters like this help us believe there is a family out there, somewhere, in some space and time.

Thank you to everyone who chooses to adopt. A special thank you to every person who chose not to overlook the cats and dogs who hide in the background, who need a little extra TLC, or those who are limited in their socialization with the world we are so used to living in.

The world is a better place because of rescue. And we appreciate everyone who contributes in whatever they can to give each and every animal a safe place to land! ❤️ 🐾

Hi, folks! I'm Bebe, and I finally feel safe enough to introduce myself to you! 🐾

I was first brought to Help From My Friends shortly arriving at Antrim County Animal Control. After my owner died and the family could no longer care for me, I ended up there, where I hid in the corner of the kennel wishing it was just a bad dream. I was confused and though their staff tried to comfort me, it was a noisy shelter and nothing made sense. I was so lonely for my momma. 💔

I'm 6 years old and got used to having a mom who cared for and never left me. One day, she was gone. I called out and howled for her for a while, but she didn't come. Even after I realized she wasn't coming back, I still couldn't figure out what to do with myself. HFMF didn't feel like home at first, but I finally realized I was safe and loved again. I started to trust the staff and the people I met. I am now looking for another quiet home where I can be cherished the way I was before. ❤️

I have lived with other dogs and have potential with other calm and respectful dogs who wants to play like I do. Cats are fun to chase, but I don't really want to hurt them. Kids are great as long as they are older and respect boundaries... But I don't know about a bunch of kids who run around and play, it makes me a bit uneasy. I'm a little nervous and need to be with people who understand me. I am a really good girl and I miss being someone's baby. Playing with hands under blankets are the best... I love most toys, especially tennis balls, and even though I can't be trusted with stuffies, I love those, too! I am not destructive or mean, but I do need to be with savvy owners who can understand when I tell you I am uncomfortable. Life has been flipped upside down for me, but I know I can be someone's baby girl again. 🐾

I have been referred to as a Pithuahua and am only 29 lbs, so even though I'm not super tiny, I know someone has the space in their home and heart for me!

If you think you might have a safe place for me, where I can be loved and spoiled again, I would love to meet you. I've not been myself lately, but I know that there is a family wishing for me just like I wish for them. 💔

Please fill out an application at helpfrommyfriends.org and visit me if you might have a safe and cozy place for me to spend the rest of my days. I love everyone at HFMF, but I miss being part of a loving household so much! ❤️

If you would like to help, but cannot offer me a home, please share my story so I can find my ideal home! 🐾

Help From My Friends is still interviewing in hopes of finding someone who adores animals as much as we do. Because this person will ultimately be responsible for the animals when unsupervised, the person we hire must be able to effectively read the body language of animals to ensure their own safety, but also the safety of animals in our care.

This position will require the hired person to commit to Mondays and Tuesdays, or Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The hours are relatively flexible, but we currently need relief for our Animal Care Director on the days we are closed to the public and would like to find a reliable, compassionate, and qualified person who could fulfill this position. The hours worked to achieve 20 hours can be negotiated and this position may offer additional hours upon our rescue's needs if the right person's schedule will permit them to do so. Duties include: feeding, medicating, giving affection to, and cleaning up after our furry critters.

The position is $14 per hour to start and only those with animal care experience will be considered. If you think you could be a fit for this particular role, please reach out to us at 231-533-4070. Also, send a cover letter and resume to [email protected].

Please share this post if you think you may know someone who would be a fit for Help From My Friends and can join our team to assist us in offering the love our adoptable animals deserve! 💕 😺 🐶 🐾

Our adoptions have slowed down quite a bit over the holidays, but we are eager to find purrfect homes for our kitties (and pups). 🐾

There are so many animals in need of rescue and each of our adoptions opens up a space for another cat or dog to be saved. ❤️

If you've considered adopting, please make sure to fill out a pre-adoption form at helpfrommyfriends.org and visit or call our center. 🐾

Update: Elle May found a home. Thanks to all who shared this post.

!!!URGENT!!!

Elle May is a good pup and very loved by her owner who has had her since she was 9 weeks old. Now that Elle is no longer a puppy, the eldest female dog in the home is not accepting of her any longer. The owner has been trying to work through the issue, however, she recently has been undergoing treatment for cancer and no longer has the strength or time to manage the two dogs together. She has turned to us to help her find a loving and suitable home for Elle May.

Elle is a little over a year old and is a Lab/Mastiff mix. She is spayed and up to date on all of her medical. She is a little hesitant with meeting new people, but comes around quickly. She does great on car rides and long trips. She is still learning to come when called, gets distracted easily, but shows plenty of promise. As you could tell by the pictures, she gets along with all animals, even another dog in the home, cats, and farm animals.

Please share this post so Elle May can find a safe and loving home quickly and her owner can focus on her health. If you are interested in Elle May, please go to our website at helpfrommyfriends.org and fill out a pre-adoption form.
