Hello everyone! A few updates for the shop.

1. Amanda is only at the shop part time for now (only Wednesday's) if she is your groomer and you would prefer to stay on her schedule I would strongly suggest pre booking your appointments with her well in advance. She is the "difficult situation" groomer here and handles the harder to groom dogs better than anyone else. If you know your dog is a bit more complicated than others I would urge you to prebook even more than those who have the easier to groom dogs. I am not taking dogs that are not already on my schedule for the most part and the other 2 girls are better equipped for dogs that are easier to groom. So in the long run if you have an "Amanda dog" and you are looking to schedule but dont want to wait for her we may not be able to accomodate. She is also the only cat groomer so the same logic applies to cat owners.

2. We have almost completely stopped answering the shop phone for many reasons. I hate the phone lol. Imagine working on a dog or doing something throughout the day and stopping the process to go answer the phone and its never a customer. 9/10 phone calls are solicitors or the sound of a 1990 fax machine or my personal favorite "the silent caller" that is just calling to see if the phone gets answered so they can sell your phone number to another solicitor. I changed the voicemail a few months ago stating that we would not return any voicemails and to provide the number to text if facebook is not an option. We all prefer texting as the only form of communication as it gives us a reference to return too on our own time (we are usually pretty quick via text and almost immediate via fb message.) The correct text number for our shop is 5076462562 everyone of us has access to the texts via app while just Lindsey and I have access to the fb messages.

Happy Saturday ya'll! (Lindsey here) I just wanted to come on and personally thank our customers for being so amazing! We love you all & the support you've given us the last 3 years has been amazing. (I can't believe we've been open for over 3 years now... and how much we've grown since then) We wouldn't be here without you & your fur babies! I wanted to make this post Jan 1st... Happy monday everyone 😭😫. We are dealing with the slowest holiday season we have ever seen. From November to January is typically the busiest portion of the year for every groomer alive as most people want their dog fresh for guests or the holiday's. This shop has never been as slow as it is right now. Before november we were packed and schedules were booked out a few weeks with 3 groomers. I hired a 4th to help with the overflow who was even cool working saturdays (where we needed the most help). I can not even fill 1 of our schedules let alone 4. So I am here asking for honest opinions. Is it the cost? Is it the dog flu the news is scaring everyone about? I want to let everyone know we have been taking the dog flu serious for weeks now. We sanitize between pets and we have included a warning in our automated messages asking customers to keep their dogs home if they have seen any signs of respitory sickness. I would like to hear the opinions of people who have come here before but chosen to go elsewhere. I panick worrying that its something I did. Maybe im too vocal on social media 😂😭. Maybe people weren't happy with their service, too expensive ect. We are struggling worse now than ever before. Scheduling was fuller during our construction when it was a task to get into the building. I have talked to a few other local shop owners and they are saying the same thing. Why is this december so quiet? If you dont want to leave a public comment please feel free to send us a message with concerns or negative feelings if you have them. I would love to learn from any mistakes if we have made them. Schedules are wide open this week and I would love to not give the girls any more unexpected days off. They are stressed I am stressed.

Happy friday everyone. Here comes a post nobody wants to read. Pricing is going up in 2024 along with a few policy changes. There are multiple reasons for this. The cost of living has skyrocketed, the cost of shampoo and supplies have increased substantially, surrounding shops are all planning a price hike or have done so already, and corporate shops who work on multiple dogs or families of dogs at the same time are priced higher than us.

ALL DOG BREED Pricing is going up by 10$ however anyone who pre books the next appointment at check out (or books the entire year) for 8 weeks or less will keep the price they are at now. So no price increase for dogs who are on a every 8 weeks (or less) schedule. This is my way of trying to reward customers who are loyal and keep a set schedule. This policy starts now as we are less than 8 weeks away from 2024.

NAIL TRIMS/FILES are going up 5$. Trims will be 20 and trim and files will be 25$. Vet clinics are charging almost 30$ for a trim alone all while scaring dogs by holding them down to do it. If they are taking your dog into a different room to do a nail trim and the dog battles at all they are basically hog tying your dog to get it done. (I wish people would quit using vet clinics for nail trims as this is how its done for dogs who aren't perfectly behaved.) In my opinion groomers will always be a better option as we trim 80-100 nails a day.

LATE CANCELS/NO SHOWS. These have gotten out of hand lately and I have been incredibly lenient for years. When someone cancels late or no shows it is not only a large loss (about 20% of a days pay for small dogs and 40% for a large dog) for the groomer/facility but it also forces my groomers to sit idle at work not being paid. From here on out any missed appointments will be met with a fee of 50% of the bill. Being more than 10 minutes late to your appointment will be met with a 15$ charge or at 15 minutes a cancel of the appointment and a fee of 50% of the grooming cost. Timing is so important to a groomers day, a text message goes a long way in the eyes of a groomer. If we know you are going to be 5-10 minutes late we can prepare and better the chances of not charging a late fee.

WINTER WEATHER. We are in Minnesota and winter can be violent lol. The cancel/late policy will not be put in place if the weather/roads are bad. Please stay home and safe. No fee or dog groom is worth an accident. However letting us know via text is appreciated.

Thank you to all of our wonderful customers who are and have been loyal to Kiings. I wish I didnt have to raise pricing but it is a must at this point. Beat the price hike by booking your next appointment at checkout.
