What's going on in our community that we have dogs , cats, and horses loose? Then the other side of the coin we have dogs that are missing or taken from their yards! Seriously!!!
Guys, it's simple! IF YOU GET A PET, THAT PET IS YOURS FOR THE DURATION!!! Not until it is no longer a puppy or kitten. They are looking to you as their owner, master/mistress. They look to you for unconditional love. You come home and they are there to greet you with wagging tails. It doesn't matter what you look like or what kind of day you've had, they are excited to see YOU!
PLEASE, CONSIDER BEFORE GETTING A PET! And if you'd like to get another pet, consider the Sumner Co. Humane Society. They have a great facility and people to help you.

Great tips. Going to the vet shouldn't be scary.

Great tips. Going to the vet shouldn't be scary.

Is your pet scared of the vet?

The vet can often be a scary place for our pets. It's filled with loud sounds and smells that often leave our pets feeling anxious and frightened before their appointment even begins. Not to mention they are being poked and handled by someone that is usually a stranger to them.

We want to make your pets' visit with us to be as stress-free as possible, but we need your help! Check out these tips to try out before your pets next vet visit:

1. Treats!: Bring treats your pet loves to distract and reward them before/during their visit. Or swing by and get them a pup cup after, rewarding them for calm behavior can help create positive associations with the vet.

2. Stay Calm: Pets can sense their owner's anxiety. Stay calm and composed to help reassure your pet that everything is okay.

3. Desensitization: Gradually expose your pet to new people and experiences like going to the groomers where they will be handled by someone other than their owner.

4. Medication: Come see us prior to your pets' visit and we can provide medication to help ease your pets' anxiety during their appointment.

Remember, every pet is unique, so it may take some trial and error to find the best strategies for reducing your pet's anxiety. And don't forget to be your pets' voice and let us know if we need to take special precautions when handling your pet.

February is Dental Health Month!

Be sure to have your pet's teeth checked by their veterinarian on a regular basis. All animals can suffer from some of the same issues people do with their teeth that cause pain and discomfort such as cavities and broken teeth. You can do things such as brushing your pet's teeth with animal-approved toothpaste to keep their teeth healthy. DO NOT use human toothpaste for pets since it contains more fluoride than pets need.
