Good evening everyone!!! We hope you've managed to stay cool today. Since it was so hot today and it's supposed to be all week, we just wanted to remind all our pet parents to keep an extra close watch on all their pets. The heat can affect them just as much as it does us.
To minimize the risk of heat related issues, limiting time outside is helpful. If you have pets that live outdoors, make sure they have access to water and shade, if they have a building to get into and you're able to run a fan for them, that would help as well.
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to call into the clinic and we will gladly help you out!

As we enter Memorial Day weekend, we just wanted to let everyone know that we will be closed on Monday for Memorial Day.
Enjoy your weekend everyone, don't forget the meaning behind the day, show respect for those who lost their life for us and thank the military men/women that are still with us today.
We'll see those of you with appointments/surgeries scheduled/coming in for medicine pick up on Tuesday!!

We are officially less than a week away from the solar eclipse, happening on April 8th! We are aware that there may be concerns about your pets during this event and we'd like to try to calm your worries.
While you may notice some strange behavior from your animals (primarily outside pets/livestock), it shouldn't be anything too crazy. One of the main things you may notice, is them putting themselves to bed. With it getting dark, they'll think it's becoming night and go through their typical nighttime routines. Indoor pets shouldn't really be affected by this. As far as them looking at the sky, this isn't a typical behavior for animals, so it shouldn't be something you need to worry about. If you'd like to be more cautious, the recommendation would be to keep indoor cats and dogs inside during the eclipse and keep a closer eye on any animals you may have outdoors.
We would also like to inform you that the clinic will be closing at 12 on this day, so that our staff is able to enjoy it with their families.
Be safe, be careful and enjoy this rare meteorological event!!!

Happy Valentine's Day from the North Side Staff to you!!
Couple quick let safety reminders for today...with chocolate and flowers/plants being very common gifts, be sure to keep them in places that your fur babies can't get to them. Chocolate is not safe for them to ingest and many plants aren't safe either!
And of course, enjoy your day!!!

We are aware of the concerns about Purina foods causing medical issues in pets. We reached out to the company to try getting some information about what might be going on. Below is the response we got back from them and wanted to share it with everyone. If you have any further questions, feel free to reach out to Purina or the clinic and we'll do our best to answer them!

"Thank you for contacting Purina for Professionals. We appreciate you taking the time to contact us directly regarding this matter.
Please beware of online rumors claiming there are issues with Purina products – these false statements may be creating unnecessary stress for pet parents. There are no health or safety issues with any of our products, and all of our products can continue to be fed with confidence.

At Purina, we take pride in feeding 46 million dogs and 68 million cats every year. The quality, safety, and nutrition of our products are our highest priority, and we take feedback from concerned pet owners and veterinarians very seriously. Our Quality Assurance team leads more than 100,000 quality checks EVERY DAY across our factory network to ensure our products are safe at every stage of the process – from when our ingredients arrive at our factories to when we ship our final food and treats out to retailers and consumers. Our comprehensive program ensures the foods you feed your pets, and that we feed our own, are safe.

Again, we thank you for taking the time to better understand the situation. We also recommend researching the source of these posts. Some are well-intentioned pet parents who are genuinely concerned and trying to be helpful, while others may be trying to create chaos and distrust of certain brands as an opportunity to sell their products. Either way, please know that if there is a confirmed issue with any Purina product, we will be sharing that information with our consumers first. Should have additional questions, please let us know. We’re here to help you and your pet(s).

Thanks again for choosing Purina. We value your business."

Good afternoon to our Facebook followers! We just have a couple things we wanted to share here real quick!

First, this Friday, December 1st, we are closing at noon. We apologize if this causes an inconvenience for anyone! But we will be in for our normal scheduled hours on Saturday, December 2nd.

Second, we wanted to put it out there that Dr Coriano, who joined us this past summer, is bilingual. She speaks Spanish, so any of our clients who are Spanish speakers as well, if you feel that scheduling with her would make communication easier, by all means feel free to request to be scheduled with her! We want to make the appointment/experience as easy as possible for both our patients AND our clients!!

Have a wonderful day everyone!

We are looking for a part time vet assistant. So if you or someone you know loves working with animals, does well in a fast moving/always changing environment, good communication skills (both with staff and clients) and is good at paying attention to details, stop in at the clinic to get an application and/or turn in a resume! Or, get on Indeed and look for our job posting! Can't wait to welcome on a new team member!

It's World Camel Day!!!! Not an animal we typically see in the clinic (or anywhere outside of a zoo really), So we're going to take a minute to appreciate the ones that Dr Reynolds has. Very interesting creatures, that's for sure! It's also pretty fun to say we know someone who has them 😁

A lot of our clients may already be aware, but we thought putting a post out there to reach as many as possible would be helpful. Our clinic does require your pet to have a rabies vaccine. Rabies is a dangerous and deadly disease, this vaccine helps to keep not only your pets safe, but also our staff. The picture attached is a basic description of how it spreads and progresses. If anyone has any further questions regarding rabies please feel free to reach out to us and we'll gladly answer the questions.

Thank you doesn't come close to expressing the amount of appreciation and gratitude that is due to the men, women and animals that have served, will serve and are currently serving, but it is a good start. Today we all need to take the time to remember the ones who are gone, and continue to thank the ones we still have.

This fellas name is Tucker, and he is in search of a new home. His current family have had some changes in the household and can no longer keep him. He was a little timid in the clinic, but was friendly. His owners said at home he does have quite a bit of energy. They've not had issues with him being aggressive with adults, kids or other animals. He's a 6.5 year old, 52 pound, neutered male mixed breed. If anyone is interested in meeting him, feel free to reach out and we'll get you in touch with his owner.

The staff at North Side would like to shout out a big THANK YOU to ALL the vets out there! It's National Veterinary Day, so we would like to recognize the hard work out vets and all the vets at other clinics as well. It's not always an easy job, mentally or physically, but it's worth it to them to help the animals. If you're going to your vet today, tell them thank you for doing what they do, it just might make their day!

Heartworms are a scary thing, no pet owner wants to go through, so how can we keep them safe from it?
There are many options out there for heartworm prevention. There are a couple injections, topicals and tablets/chewables.
They vary in prices, depending on what you get and how many. It's best to talk with your vet to find the best option for you and your pet. After a negative heartworm test, we will gladly get your pet started and protected.
