We are officially less than a week away from the solar eclipse, happening on April 8th! We are aware that there may be concerns about your pets during this event and we'd like to try to calm your worries.
While you may notice some strange behavior from your animals (primarily outside pets/livestock), it shouldn't be anything too crazy. One of the main things you may notice, is them putting themselves to bed. With it getting dark, they'll think it's becoming night and go through their typical nighttime routines. Indoor pets shouldn't really be affected by this. As far as them looking at the sky, this isn't a typical behavior for animals, so it shouldn't be something you need to worry about. If you'd like to be more cautious, the recommendation would be to keep indoor cats and dogs inside during the eclipse and keep a closer eye on any animals you may have outdoors.
We would also like to inform you that the clinic will be closing at 12 on this day, so that our staff is able to enjoy it with their families.
Be safe, be careful and enjoy this rare meteorological event!!!
