Received some sad news our sweet Hunter passed away. Hunter was the first horse I have ever been able to adopt out that had a serious health issue. Hunters cancer spread and he began losing a ton of weight so the decision to let him go was made. Thanks so much Georgia for loving him in his last year of life and taking such good care of him. Run free sweet boy 🥲

🥰🥰🥰🥰 hey guys I hope everyone’s having a good day. Try and stay cool if you’re here in Central Florida wanted to let everybody know that I have updated our cover photo to Honey. I’m gonna update it every single week so we can see how far she’s come she has been at the emergency foster home for one week and is already starting to look better. I went and saw her today and took this photo. Her prior adopter did donate and pay for her trim which I am thankful for. In the week this horse has been here, she has already cost us over $1000. I brought supplies for this week and last, she had the vet bill and had to be power packed. I am so thankful for the $200 that has been donated this far but we have not even broke even. If you find it in your heart to donate, please do so every penny helps.

🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸Good Evening Everyone I hope everyone had a good Holiday week, mine has been extremely busy. I had one horse returned from an adopter and 2 emergency intakes. I am sure everyone remembers Honey the sweet Dun QH mare that came back in October after being with an adopter for almost 2 years, well I picked her back up again after she was with a 2nd adopter for the past 7 months. Honey is in horrible shape a body score1. The vet saw her the day after she arrived and we ran a bunch of tests besides being full of worms and parasites she has no medical issues. Honey is at our emergency foster home,Bridgette has graciously agreed to rehab her. I have decided this horse will never leave the rescue again she has earned Sanctuary for the rest of her days. It is currently costing $250 a week to rehab her plus the vet bill I paid for all the testing. The Ferrier will see her this week. Please donate toward her care. There are 2 other horses that I will post tomorrow that also need your help. Thanks in advance, please help us help Honey.

🐴🐴🐴🐴EMERGENCY FUNDRAISER🐴🐴🐴

Good Afternoon everyone. I want to talk donations today, as of Saturday there will be zero in the rescue account and as of today we have 18 horses, of this number only 4 are adoptable. I have not done any fundraisers the past 4 months as we have had ample funds to take care of the horses since an online Q and A and live stream we had the middle of February. The rescue has been incredibly blessed by a wonderful group of people, they are creating a new website that launches next week and are constantly working on fund raising ideas for all the horses here. This month I have only received $110 in donations and last month it was $85. I realize the economy is bad now and everything is extremely expensive, However, there are currently seven horses on the waiting list waiting to come in,2 of which are horses that were adopted in prior years that need to come back on June 14. For the past four years, I have primarily supported this rescue, I can no longer afford to do that my money is running out. I am begging all of my faithful followers to help. I will not be able to continue to say yes when I get emergency calls if we do not raise some money. Due to all the changes with Facebook pay and all the fees we have signed up with Zeffy to receive donations. We receive payouts every week from Zeffy and there are absolutely no fees. I have included the link below to donate. It cost more than $5000 a month to take care of the rescue horses 3 of our seniors alone are $1800 a month. I am flying to Ohio on Sunday and having heart surgery on Tuesday, I have faith in all of you that you will give, however you feel led. As always the Horses and I thank you.

Thanks for donating your donation will help us to rescue rehab and rehome neglected and abused horses.

🤠🤠NEW SACTUARY HORSES🤠🤠
I received a call from a Hospice nurse 3 weeks ago about a lovely woman who had ALS and had 2 horses who needed placement. The nurse felt her patient was holding on until she found a place where her horses would be loved and be able to live out their days. I immediately said yes, I can’t imagine what it would feel like to be worried about any of my animals. I picked up the two horses on the day that their owner was admitted to hospice care, sadly she passed away 4 days later. Charlie is a 25 yr old QH and Jasper a 27 year old Rocky Mtn horse. The family also donated their horse trailer to be used or sold to benefit the rescue. These two horses were very loved and very well taken care of. I consider it an honor to have been chosen to take care of these two guys for the rest of their days. Welcome to your forever home Jasper and Charlie. 🤠🤠🤠

Good Evening wanted to give a quick update on Derby, he is doing fantastic. Derby is a 18 year old Appendix we are unsure if he is broke to ride or not but will find out in the next couple weeks. Derby was a hard rehab, I am so thankful to his foster Mom Bridgette for doing an awesome job with him. Derby’s bottom teeth are worn down and sensitive so he struggles with hay and grass but he loves soaked alfalfa cubes and pellets. Derby got a visit from our awesome farrier Camp this week. Derby has been back home for 5 weeks now and is flourishing he loves being a part of the herd. Stay tuned on Derby’s progress he’s a gentle giant 🩷

🤠🤠🤠AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION🤠🤠🤠
We have a lovely Arab Cross available for adoption. April is 20 years old and loves to trail ride, she has been with Patty her foster Mom for a year she is a lovely horse. April’s adopter should be a confident child or a woman. April does have a cataract in her left eye but it does not affect her riding ability. April sat for over 4 years and did great the first time she was ridden, she has no vices or bad habits. If you have any questions or would like to go meet April please reach out to me. Let’s find April a home

Hey Everyone it’s day 2 of updates and tonite we are talking about Starlit Skies, she originally came to the rescue Oct 30 as her prior owner had various medical issues and was not physically able to take care of her. Bridgette rode her and got her ready for adoption and she went to her new home December 3. Starlit’s adopter has previously adopted from us and is a wonderful family that takes excellent care of their horses. Star began losing weight and having some aggressive behaviors while in the pasture so the vet came out and examined her. The vet diagnosed her with a grade 3 heart murmur and ulcers. Starlit was adopted as a riding horse and per the vets instructions she is no longer to be ridden so she was returned to the rescue April 29. I kept Starlit in my round pen for 2 1/2 weeks so I could continue to treat her ulcers and monitor her food intake energy level and behavior. I moved Starlit to the Retirement pasture yesterday and so far so good. The vet will be back next month to reassess her heart murmur and her weight. Starlit will live out the rest of her days here at my farm. I will continue to keep you posted on her health and behavior. I am hopeful she will settle and we will have a lot more time with her. Welcome home Starlit Skies

🤠🤠🤠Good Evening do you all remember Semi the palomino that came in last summer and was adopted in September? Semi was returned on March 7 as he was having some riding issues and he did not work out for his adopter. I contemplated sending Semi to a trainer or having my daughter continue to ride him however I felt the best thing for Semi was to just be a companion horse. At some point in Semis life he had some trauma and he becomes terrified and shakes while being ridden in certain situations. Semi has excellent ground manners and is lovely to be around and it was time for him to just be a horse and hang out. I became part of a group on Facebook recently where equine rescues collaborate and help each other. I was contacted by Rainbows Edge about a lovely lady, looking for a companion horse, I reached out and she and her husband came out met Semi and the rest is history. Semi now lives in Gainesville on a beautiful farm with his new best friend Phoenix. I’m so thankful for Gloria and that Semi has a forever home. Semi you are loved and I am so thankful🩷

This… every word of it is truth 🥲

Stolen off FB Lynn Ann

If you choose to rescue animals, I am going to give you some sound advice - Grow a thick skin and don't care what people think of you. I have known people to lose the battle with their minds and we just lost a kind, caring individual in my rescue network. Compassion fatigue is real, but nothing is worth your life. No pet. No rescue. No person's opinion. Nothing.

In rescue, that person that tells you what an angel you are and how wonderful you are every time you pick up a stray pet thrown at their door will also be the first person who tells people how your organization is worthless when you don't have space to pick up the 30th pet thrown off on their property. It's ok.

In rescue, the adopter that leaves you the five star review about how wonderful everyone has been will change that review quick when they return the pet even though you have spent hours trying to keep it in their home. One star reviews are ok.

In rescue, your friend will be your friend until you deny their application for a pet because they are a great friend but a terrible pet owner. That's ok too.

In rescue, you will answer 43 calls in a day (yesterday to be exact). But if you miss 6 calls in a row while you are in the shower, you will be the one who "never answers their phone". It's ok.

In rescue, people will judge everything but never have time to pitch in a hand to help when they see something needing more attention. They will, however, have lots of time to call animal control. You are always going to have inspections because people can be petty. It will be ok. OTHER RESCUES WILL BE YOUR WORST JUDGE. JURY AND EXECUTIONER!

In rescue, you will have to involve animal control and the police department sometimes. The people who you take pets from will hate you - and I mean REALLY hate you. Trust me, it's ok.

In rescue, pets will be put down and pets will die at the hands of abusers. We can't save them all - and that's ok. We save the ones that we can and pray for peace for the ones we can't.

I have been in the animal rescue world since 2002. I have dealt with every problem and every situation imaginable. I used to take some things to heart, then I realized - I am doing this for the animals, not for any person in this world. I have found my joy and no person will take that. If you are in rescue, don't let anyone or anything take your joy. Find peace that you will never please everyone. Find peace that you will never save them all. Never allow something you love to turn into something that ends your life.

🤠🤠🤠🤠NEW INTAKE🤠🤠🤠🤠
Hey guys want to introduce everyone to our new Sanctuary Horse Bow. Bow is a 26 year old Appaloosa with arthritis. Bow has a history of choke and very little teeth so all his food and forage needs to be soaked. Bow is unable to eat hay, he eats soaked beet pellets along with senior feed twice a day. Bow is on 3 supplements daily along with electrolytes. I have attached a photo of the supplements he takes twice a day, it costs $200 a month for the supplements alone. As long as Bow is not ridden he is sound, he’s a real sweetie welcome to Fallen Oak buddy. Bow will have a forever home here. If you would like to sponsor Bow please reach out to me it cost approximately $450 a month to meet all his needs.

Mrs Smith loved horses and was part of a mounted patrol unit years ago, Her family requested in lieu of flowers donations be directed to the rescue. We received a donation of $250 what a gift . Thanks so much to the Smith family and those who donated blessings to all of you.

Wow so true I am so blessed to do what I love

Boarding horses is a labor of love...it will never be a profitable business for the vast majority of us...as a matter of fact, I make a total of $0 after we account for hay, grain, bedding, supplements, salt licks, fencing, electric, consumables (fans, water heaters, buckets, manure forks, wheelbarrows, water troughs, etc.), tractor/mower/drag/manure spreader fuel and maintenance, property taxes, and insurance. Have an event to attend? I’ll need to be home in time to feed. Want to go to a movie or out to dinner? I'll have to figure these activities around boarding chores. If I go on vacation or to a horse show, I'll need to hire someone to take care of the place (and all the horses). I have learned how to be comfortable with being uncofortable in extreme heat, cold, and other sometimes rapidly changing weather conditions. A reliable weather app is worth it's weight in gold....and I check it....I check it obsessively...So why do I do it? For me, it's my 'happy place'...what is more rewarding than spending your time with one good horse? Surrounding yourself with many! I am particular about who I welcome into my herd. My boarders must have a good disposition and get along well with others. In exchange, they are provided the same personal atention I afford my own horses...grooming, blanketing, wellness checks, quality feed, etc. They also get to spend their days in spacious padocks shared with a special friend. I try hard to make sure each boarder is perfectly matched with a friend for life. For the one exception I currently have who must be stalled due to unique feed and medicine requirements, even the turnout paddock on his stall is bordered on both sides with friends. Let's not forget the human factor. These horses are extremely important to their owners. While it is impossible to make everyone happy all the time, I hope that at the end of the day, they realize that my choices are always in the best interest of the horses according to my life experiences and with the input of treasured farriers and veterinarians.....and bottom line - their horses are extremely important to me, too. Spending time with happy horses makes me happy. It's just that simple.
