Didn't think this little dude was going to ever come to the trap! Meet Chili Peppa, Sparky....AKA whatever. Haven't really decided on a name yet, but this little fella was seemingly dumped in an area just outside of Belleville towards Millstadt.
He hung around the intersection traffic area the first day seemingly waiting for whomever had dumped him to come back for him. Once people tried to get him he headed off down the road just a bit into an open field area. He had no intentions of coming to anyone for food, other small dogs, or anything else. He chose to just hang out in the middle of the field and avoid all of us.
He watched us set a trap, smelled the bacon from afar that had been cooked but yet never came anywhere near the trap area. After day two of not coming anywhere near the trap area we were getting worried! We had tried all other avenues, then he was seen down the road in another area later that evening. Luckily by the middle of the night he showed up back in the same field after we had bungied the trap open. He went in to grab a little bacon. So with high hopes for the next day we set it early added more bacon and then waited and waited. He finally showed up after dark just before we were going to have to bungee it open again because of pepé Le Pew and a raccoon that was hanging out there. Luckily he showed up and went in for the bacon!
Very scared, but has come around very quickly and loves the attention! ❤️ ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks to all of those that helped us in that area, Maneghi Meadows and neighbors, as well as the usual, Angela Caito-Price, Kurt Swanson , and long distance Gay Arnold.
Meet Pepper! ❤️ On Aug 9th Pepper got spooked and took off from her owner while camping. She was seen various times but avoided people and was too scared to return to anyone. We told them to get a couple feeding stations set up. It was unknown whether she had eaten at any of them or not, they weren't being monitored with cameras. She was also seen running into a cornfield a couple times. LPT set up a camera at the feeding station near the camper that she had been staying. Luckily she showed up in the middle of the night Thursday looking for food. Friday a trap was baited and set, waiting and praying she returned on Friday. With so much activity around the area we knew she probably wouldn't show her face until night time when it quieted down. We waited all night long and she finally made her appearance in the wee hours of the morning Saturday! Thanks to all of those that helped, Angela Caito-Price for setting up camera and trap, great job girl! Angie Berry for assisting getting another trap and running out the door this morning to help! Great job guys and welcome home Pepper!

Luckily Rosie was a quick catch!
Rosie and her brother went for a home meet and greet, possibly rehoming this weekend, Rosie was so scared she slipped her collar and bolted into the woods. Luckily she stayed right around the area and a towel on some snacks were put out for her.
Thanks Kurt Swanson for taking a camera and trap over! Rosie came rather quickly and is now safe and going back home with her brother for now. ❤️
