May is National Bike Month! When was the last time you rode a bike? We have one client that rides with his dog on the back in a basket. We are thinking of doing the same with our new ebikes that we LOVE (seriously, if you get a chance, get an ebike, they are AMAZING)

Meet Gus!!! AKA - Gus The Bus (all dogs get a fun name here)
Gus started coming to The Barkhouse when he was only a small pup. His scruffy face and his sweet demeaner quickly gained him a fan favorite among the lady pups and all our customers. Gus is smart and super sweet with a large bark if he thinks The Barkhouse is under seige by the mailman! We love ya Gus Bus

I get asked all the time what is 'good play?' What seems aggressive or dangerous to us is simply a dog's natural way of playing. Remember, they don't have words or opposable thumbs so they communicate often by 'muzzling' or nibbling, biting, tackling, and rough play. If you are ever concerned with the difference of positive play and aggressive play, ABSOLUTELY stop the behavior and deescalate/remove your dog from the scene. Dogs do feed off of your energy, so if you are nervous, they may go in 'protection mode'. Always ask a professional to evaluate your dog's playstyle if you are ever worried. Please see photo of Ozzy and Scout, teeth bared, one dog pinned, growling and pawing. We know these dogs very well and they know each other. This is normal behavior for these dogs but should it escalate, we would follow basic rules, STOP the behavior, separate the dogs, deescalate the room and redirect their attention to another activity.

Meet Finnegan!!! AKA - Finnelbutt (all dogs get a fun name here)
Finnegan is a regular OG (Original Gansta) of the Barkhouse. As one of our very first clients, if not the first, Finnegan loves to come to the Barkhouse. He is loving, and gentle always giving you a big ole tail wag. He loves playing with medium to smaller dogs and is always very gentle with the tiny dogs and small puppies that come stay with us. Finnegan is super soft, has a love for carrots and his Dad. We love you Finnagan and thanks for being an amazing pup!
