We’re excited to introduce Dr. Stacy Kim, one of the newest faces in the Emergency department at Bellevue Veterinary Emergency & Specialty.

Originally from Los Angeles, Dr. Kim earned a Bachelor of Science from Northwestern University and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of California, Davis. After completing a small animal medicine and surgery internship at Tufts Veterinary Emergency Treatment & Specialties in Boston, Dr. Kim went on to work as an emergency veterinarian at the Veterinary Emergency and Referral Center of Hawaii.

Now calling Seattle home, Dr. Kim has joined the Bellevue Veterinary Emergency & Specialty team, bringing expertise and compassion to every case. Outside the hospital, Dr. Kim enjoys gardening, hiking, and hosting game nights with family and friends.

🌿 Springtime Dangers: Allergic Reactions & Insect Stings

Warmer weather means more time outside—but it also increases the risk of allergic reactions and insect bites that can quickly turn into emergencies. Know when to seek urgent care:

🚨 Red Flags That Need Immediate Attention:
🐾 Severe Allergic Reactions: Trouble breathing, facial swelling, vomiting, or collapse.
🐝 Insect Stings & Bites: Swelling near the throat, excessive drooling, or signs of anaphylaxis.

If your pet is showing any of these symptoms, don’t wait—seek emergency care immediately.

We’re excited to welcome Dr. Melody Cerra to the Bellevue Veterinary Emergency and Specialty team!

Dr. Cerra was born and raised in Northwest Montana, where her love for animals began at an early age. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the University of Montana in 2007 and went on to receive her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University in 2014. Following veterinary school, she completed a small animal internship at PESC in San Diego before relocating to the Seattle area, where she’s been practicing ever since.

When asked what drew her to Bellevue Veterinary Emergency and Specialty, Dr. Cerra shared: “The wonderful staff and specialists.” We couldn’t agree more—and we’re so glad she’s here.

Outside the hospital, Dr. Cerra enjoys skiing, biking, camping, traveling, and exploring the outdoors with her rescue dog, Quinn.

🌼 Spring Cleaning: A Fresh Start, But Keep Pets Safe
As we jump into spring cleaning, it’s a great time to refresh our homes—but some common products can pose risks to our pets. Many cleaners contain chemicals that are harmful if licked, sniffed, or walked through. Even “natural” or “green” products can be irritating or toxic, depending on the ingredients.

A few quick tips:
• Keep pets out of rooms while cleaning
• Store all products securely
• Let floors and surfaces dry fully before letting pets back in

If your pet gets into something they shouldn’t—or notice symptoms like drooling, vomiting, or lethargy, it’s always okay to give us a call. We're here to help keep your pets safe.
