Today is mani and pedi day for the hoof gang-
Romeo, Lakota, Duncan for sure and if we can get the goats to cooperate that would be golden.

Poor Romeos hooves were so bad when we got him and we were always told - little by little bc you can't do it all at once. The farrier wouldn't even attempt to take them down to far. However today he is down to about where they should be! He did so good!

A huge Thank you to Stacey and family for the amazing donation of our " special need/handicap enclosure " . It shall be done sooner than later.
Our next one is going to be the new Pigeon and Dove enclosure as those numbers are on the rise!
The parakeets will then inherite the current dove/pigeon enclosure until next spring when we get them a bigger option as those numbers are on the rise as well- with 4 more being surrendered this weekend. That will put us up to 15 so a bigger aviary is necessary!

* we will post pics of the finished product once it's put together!

It has been a very busy release to freedom week.
We have officially been able to release all our racc***s , we released 11 opposums and have 8 more to go, we released birds , we released bunnies and the c***s were the last to go. Now to spray and sanitize the enclosure for future use. Ya never know what's coming in next.

We are also up to 9 piglets, 3 mommas to go-
1 kitten looking for furever home as well. It is slow down time here.
Thank you to all our amazing supporters and donors , we couldn't do what we do without you!

Next year- we will have more enclosures, a clinic /nursery, and storage building up !

Today we had a surrender of 7 Pigeons. Story is owner moved out and left them to fend for themselves. Their loving and caring neighbors have been feeding them and we're able to contain them and sought help immediately!
They contacted Birds and Beaks Rescue and Rehab whom sent them to us - we do wildlife so pigeons and doves could fall under both wild/domestic and having to distinguish the difference can sometimes be tricky and they take the parrot friends and we help them with these friends.

* before the haters jump in- yes I know this cage is too small for them. It's only a transport cage from my drive way - to outback aviary! Don't panic! These guys will go thru the transition phases and be introduced to the rest of flock soon.

Are you looking to add piggies to your life? Now is the chance to make them yours.
We have 2 ( 1 boy, 1 girl) 6 weeks old today!
We also have 5 ( 3boys and 2 girls) 4 weeks old this weekend!

Messy babies- all eating on their own, digging up the roots and playing in the mud...
These are all Juliana/ potbelly mixes - mommas are on-site so you can see size if needed. These babies will all remain small - not your typical potbelly sizes.

Boys will be fixed soon

Update- 7/24/24-
We still have the 2 tiger kittens and 1 black kitten-
This is why we don't usually take them in, adopting them out isn't going well. We will no longer be taking in Kittens /cats or dogs /puppies ! If it has a disorder or disability of some sort ( like our Cellebular hydroplasia girl) then the answer will be no! Sorry but we just don't have space and time to keep doing rotations of animals like this.

If you know anyone looking- now is the time to get them.

We need to find homes asap for these sweet kittens.... the Tigers are 9 - 10 weeks old and the black 3 are 6 weeks old tomorrow. And the torti - she is about 2 yrs old.

MINI PIGS- We don't know how many babies we will have- we have 7 if not 8 pregnant mommas. We don't know how many will survive as these mommas have gone through hell for the last cpl months. Our friend who had 1 of 6 other pregnant moms didn't have a successful delivery of her first momma so we are skeptical. Unfortunately her momma had 7 stillborn babies and no survivors. These mommas were neglected, and starved for God only knows how long before they arrived to us.

We will give them a week and if doing very well - we will start naming and in 4 weeks we will start our adoption lists for those wanting to adopt babies
We will come up with a few options for your input on this later.

Haven't had a chance to update recently-

Last Sat we welcomed ( adopted) this lil Sable fox - he is now a new member to our crazy bunch. Meet Maverick!

We have had lots of intakes, we have done a few releases and have more to do.

Are you, or anyone you know looking to add a furry friend kitten to your/their clan? We took in 4 baby kittens . All 4 are black / dark gray almost black , approx 3 to 4 weeks old- they needed medical treatment after being found sick in a barn. If interested send us a pm- whatever is left will go back to our friends that found them.

Weekends are filling up with family events as the graduations happen and we will be welcoming another youngster as well so Intakes on weekends are less likely to happen depending on what we have going on.
It seems people assume we rehabbers have no life outside of rescue and we are supposed to be available 24/7 - let me just reiterate- 90% of us have full time jobs to pay for our rescues, we have kids , we have events, and we also have a home , yard, and all the animals to attend too. I don't know how many lil hands and feet and mouths depend on you, but here we are over 100 so slow your rolls and don't get so pissy when we can't get to you! I know my not so nice side is about to come out on some who have the audacity to demand us meet their needs too. If we have a time frame set - it's because that is the time frame we are slowest and can step away from a million other tasks. Don't like it? Then find another rehabber or ask if there is a possibility of another time and we may be able to squeeze in 10 min. If not- we ask you do what you can to help said animal until we can help. We try to be avail however we do have outside rescue lives as well.

UPDATE: It appears some are having difficulty accepting new information/better ways to get an indoor kitty to stay close/come back. Here's a link with reportedly safer/ successful methods.

🐈🐾🐈🐾🐈🐾🐈🐾🐈🐾

My local pet lost and found group made a very helpful document to help locate missing cats. It is localized but has great info. Definitely put food out and if you have access to a trail cam, security camera, or baby monitor, use those to see if it’s your cat coming home to eat. Most indoor lost cats will stick around the area! Don’t lose hope, he/she will come back

Good morning friends!
I wanted to make a post about some changes and adjustments that we are gonna try out and hopefully it doesn't backfire.
As many of you know, and most of our newer followers who have been here recently have found out; not many rehabbers are taking c***s and fawns and some that are have been telling everyone they are full and can't take any more so they have been referring everyone to us.
We have always tried to go all spring and summer without turning anyone aways. Over the years many life events have happened and our family keeps growing. When I started rehabbing back in 2010 I had only 1 child and he grew up rescuing and helping his momma with babies. To this day - he is still rescuing babies when he comes across a situation and I couldn't be more proud of his heart. Since then ? I had become a foster parent after raising God only knows how many children in 2016 and I have since gotten married and we have a total of 4 adopted kiddos and 3 of them are special needs and 1 of the 3 is a total handicap child and we are in the process of another special needs youngster who will be joining our crazy clan soon, and a series of medical conditions that change with the weather.
Baby season has been busy and now school is out next week for the summer. We do not utilize the summer school options for many reasons so with that we need to adjust how we do intakes.
We will still continue as we have but I will be multi tasking . If I don't answer the phone, please don't call 5 more times back to back. If I didn't answer the first time, chances are I'm busy and not able to answer the others either. I have been accepting animal drop offs throughout the day at your convenience vs mine. This is where I have to adjust , so I will be setting time frames for intakes. I have to be able to attend to my kids and family as well as the many critters in care. I am 1 person- we don't have volunteers. We are not able to come to your location to pick up animals. We don't have transport volunteers either . We need you to bring the animals to us that need care. I have had several get mad over this and try to guilt us by saying things like " oh so your gonna let this animal die", " Then why do you call yourself a rescue" , and more. We don't get funded to do what we do. We do it bc we love it, we can , and every animal deserves a second chance at life. We are here for them. I'm sorry if you don't understand. I Don't have time to sit on the phone and do " customer service" friends . I'm sorry. I Don't even have time to call my outside friends or text them and have a " non rescue " conversation. So, shoot us a text if I don't pick up the phone. You can leave a vm too however you will probably get a text back when I am able to go thru messages.
I want you all to know - I absolutely appreciate all of you, I appreciate all the support , and want you to know, I couldn't do all of this without you!
To those who have brought us babies- I appreciate you for trying and giving these beautiful souls a chance at survival and not let mother nature just take course bc let's face it- mother nature is cruel sometimes!
We have had many plans of upgrades but this year hasn't allowed for all of this to happen. We will be upgraded though by next spring. We will have our clinic , we will have a storage barn, we will have new enclosures built. We have had many offer to volunteer, we have had a few students that needed community service hours and set to come out however they didn't show up. We are getting what we can , done ourselves in-between everything else . Please be patient and I hope you understand!

Typically, we have people wanting to see the animals during an intake and we have been able to do " a tour visit" where they could meet the animals and some have gotten the chance to offer treats to them. However, with the kids being home starting this week , this may not be an option. So I am going to go through the calendar and I will find a Sat or Sunday where we can set aside a cpl hours for set tours. Where you can bring the kids, get treats to feed the animals and enjoy a " hands on zoo type experience ". Maybe even some pictures with your favorite animal.

This event will probably be in August bc July is kinda crazy with appts and a surgery for one of our lil guys.
I will be looking for volunteers to help with this event and will post about the opportunities possibly tomorrow or Monday. So stay tuned.

Until next time; I appreciate you all and let's keep up the saving the animals together. Thank you!

If you wish to donate- we have an Amazon wishlist pinned at the top and we do go thru it weekly and update and make the changes. We couldn't do what we do without you !

Thank You Alecia Moore for the donations of supplies. It is greatly appreciated!

An amazing 5 year old and her momma's successful reunion of a baby bird.

Friday evening we were contacted about a baby bird from Ashley- my cousin . This baby was found as my nephew went out to mow and they contacted us right away with questions of what to do. Advice given on how to reunite momma and baby. Ashley and her lil 5 yr old Arizona got a basket and made a makeshift nest bc they just couldn't find the nest. They hung it in the tree the baby was found by, added newspaper and paper towels and waited. Arizona named the baby - Bluey bc it has some blue pin feathers. They kept checking. Saturday we asked about update- they went to check. Baby was still there, through video call we were able to determine it looked like momma was still taking care of baby so we were gonna wait a little longer. Later in the day we advised they add string - Ashley discovered the original nest on the ground but it wasn't gonna be easy to put back in tree so we advised her to place the nest in the basket and hang up in tree, use string to see if momma comes back before we intervene. Again looked like baby was doing alright and they were gonna check again Sunday. Sweet lil Arizona said " mommy went to the grocery store to get food and didn't know the baby fell out , but she would come home" and guess what? Sunday we recieved the message that Chilly ( Arizona named momma) did in fact come back to Bluey and it was a successful reunification!
Ashley and Miss Arizona did an amazing job at babysitting and taking care of Bluey while Chilly went to get her food and having home set back up. Great job ladies!
