Good evening, Lounge crew!!! This post is simply to clear up some questions on how our foster program works 🐶
Only a select few of our pups are available for our foster program. These are pups who are older and have been waiting 4 or more weeks to find their forever families, our non lounge pups, medical cases(stay tuned, we have one that will be posted tomorrow), or pups who are just not handling kennel life well.
As a foster, you will put in a foster application that will be gone over during the weekend(or sooner if its an urgent situation). We will provide a crate, leash, harness/collar, an "adopte me" bandana, or leash sleeve that you can use when out and about, a hand full of business cards that have our qr codes on the back of to hand out to anyone interested, and any medical treatment(antibiotics, salves, wipes ect) and cost of vet visits when taken to our vets in Mount Vernon. We ask that you provide food and treats for your foster baby.
Your job as a foster is to help provide basic training like potty training, leash training and the basic manners in a home. Our vollenteer foster coordinator stays in weekly(or more) contact with you to get updates on progress and new photos that we can post on our social media pages to help the pup be seen and bring attention to them and showcase their personalities(you can look back through our posts to see what those look like).
If your interested in a foster to adopt, you will need to put in an adoption application. There is a section with a "foster to adopt" option you can click but please know that most outright adoption applications will take priority. We asked that you give pup a minimum of 2 weeks to get to know your routine and the rules of your home. If it doesn't work out, ideally we ask that you give us time to find another placement by being handed over to our foster coordinator unless it is a danger use situation(dogs not getting along, pup has a prey drive, pup and kids not doing well together ect.). In the case of being switched to our foster system you will fall into the weekly updates and posts.

Omg, I was going through the few photos I took Wed during my shift for content and didn't realize how much Squirrel looks like her mama, Mona 😍
Squirrel is 4-5 months old and has been searching for her family for over 56 days! She is a chi/msd mix and likely 25-35 # when she's fully grown. You can find her in the window bed at the lounge most days, as she loves to sleep in the sun. She's shy and timid but so sweet and slowly coming out of her shell. The last of her sibblings were adopted a few weeks ago, so now is her time to shine! She's great with dogs, though she doesn't like to be "roughed up" during play and will give appropriate ques when the other pups get too rough with her. Good with kids, likely will be good with cats since most are around her size and she likes the ball when she can get it by her self and not have to compete with the bigger faster guys. Let's share this girl all over social media and see if we can find her family!

Omgggg! We have to gush for a second and give a huge shout out to ! They do art classes to pain your pets and has recently taken to painting our pups and bringing them in. We will find a space to hang them in the lounge! If you don't follow them on instagram, do it! This is Grumpy and Badger! A while back they brought in one of Abel that is already hanging!

Yesterday we got to see a few of our recently adopted pups! Izzy and her mama popped in to the lounge to say "hello" and she's still as sweet as ever! Oscar(now Ferb, and it couldn't be more fitting lol) stopped at the rescue just before transport left for the Lounge! He's doing amazing and his legs look amazing!!! We love getting updates on pups who have been adopted! We have a few others who have sent in updates so be ready for the photo dumps within the hour as we sort through messages ♥️🐾🐶

✨️Spotlight post- Loofy!

Hey hey Lounge crew! Have you met Loofy the Floof yet? If not you should pop in and get all the snuggles from him.
Loofy is a sweet, 5ish month old Aussie Mix and has been searching for his forever for over a month. Not only is Loofy a handsome boy, but he gives the best snuggles! Loofy is Deaf but that doesn't slow him down one bit. He is silly, curious, eager to play, and please. He's very smart but training a deaf pup in the lounge and kennel environment is difficult with so many friends around to distract him. He has been in 2 foster to adopt homes which turned out to not be good fits for him, neither of which had anything to do with him, but we have learned a few things about him from them.

✅️ Will be easy to potty trained as he scratches at the door to go potty
✅️ Is "cool as a cucumber" during bathtime, which is extremely helpful given his long white fur
✅️ Rides great in the car
✅️ Good with cats
✅️ The BEST, softest snuggles in town
✅️ Looks to humans for guidance, which will make training a little easier given he can't hear
✅️ Loves other dogs
✅️ Good with kids
✅️ Knows some hand signals
✅️ Nutered
✅️ Up to date on vaccinations for his age

Loofy would do great in a home with another trained pup, or a home where he can have lots of attention to learn. He wants to stick to you like glue and "help" with everything. He can be pretty vocal in a crate but that is something he will grow out of with consistency and training. Since he's been with us, he's not been alone and given he's deaf his vocals are more than likely just fear since he doesn't know what's going on. Loofy desperately wants a home and family of his own. Let's share this big snuggle floof all over social media and find his furever home

Happy independance day from our rescue family to yours!!! Please have a safe night, remember to drink your water as we head into.the heat advisory and keep your pets safe! Fireworks can be scary to our furbabies so be sure they are safe through the festivities over the next few days!!!!

I had no time to post today, but most Wednesdays, we will be having a "special guest" at the lounge. On Wednsdays, your normal host for the day, Tarna, will be bringing up a "non lounge pup" for the day on transport to give them a day out and a chance to interact with you all. These pups/ dogs are available for adoption and will be a surprise each week! Be sure to say "hi" to them and give them some love! Depending on the pup/Dogs temperament, they may be in the main room with all the other pups or in the side hall if they do not do well with all the puppy energy. If they are in the side hall, all you have to do is ask and the host will let you in with them. This will give some of our big guys time out of the kennel, interaction with folks outside of our daily rescue vollenteers and let them be seen! I will try to post in the morning who is coming up as our "surprise guest" each Wednesday. That said, next week there will NOT be one as I'm on vacation, so keep an eye out on Wednesday for our "special guest", and if you don't see a post it means the day is busy, stop in and see who we have. Remember these guys will only be up one day a week.
Today was Bo!
He is a 1 year old Shep/huskey Mix who was returned due to no fault of his own. We were lucky enough to have one of our volenteers come up to walk him and let him be in the lobby as a greeter! He did so good with all the commotion, people of all ages and out on walks around the area. He would have been fine in the big room with all the other pups, but he was not a fan of our little miss sassy pants, Tia. That said, I want to thank everyone who gave this big floof some attention today! He was happy as can be when I got back from my shift to drop off the other pups!

And last reminder, just because we have one of our rescue pups in the main lobby our outside the door, DOES NOT mean that you can bring your pets in. This poses a risk for illness and / or fighting to our beloved rescue pups and yours. The pups in our facility know one another, so when we have our special guest up for the day, we know that they are not a risk to our Littles. Thanks in advance. 💜🐾🐶

Little Christina is the last of her litter and she doesn't seem bothered as long as she has a rope! Christina is a 4 month old Heeler/aussie mix who gives the cutest "cheese" smiles when she's excited to see you! She is a little timid at first but so worth the time to get to know her!

Can you help us by committing to one of these kiddos for a minimum of 2 weeks… or if possible until they find their forever home? The “job” requirements of our Foster Advocates is to get to know our rescue pup, help them work on basics, take them “Out on the Town” to meet potential adopters “in the wild” and post them on your social media platforms! We are able to help provide the basics (food/toys/harnesses/leashes etc.) if needed but it’s a HUGE help if our Fosters can provide the majority of the basics. Our Fosters are given “first choice” if they decide to “Level Up” from Foster to Adopter.🥰

‼️🎉We asked, and you responded! We will do more spotlight posts(more than.likely once a weeks and cute photoshoots and videos! With walk-ins and bookings picking up, we will do our best to capture things and post when we have 2 seconds of spare time. This can look like posts being done late at night, and/or a day or so later than our shifts! We love the business, but in order for us to be available to you all, the folks present during our shifts aaand keeping an eye on pups, it can be a little tricky! That said, we will do our best to get you what you want and continue to grow our page and business! Let's get these pups seen, love, and their furever homes! 🐾🐶🎉
